Schnebly Hill Road

Going to Flagstaff and Sedona the first week of June. Schnebly Hill Road looks like something I want to take when leaving Sedona going back to the I 17 Fwy.
I plan to air down to 20 to soften the ride.

Any advice or warnings would be appreciated.
Are the Pink Jeep Tours a problem or bother?

Get your camera ready! It is a beautiful drive. Make sure you stop at the vista up top as the view is fantastic. Airing down to 20 psi would definitely smooth out the ride, it is slow going and bumpy, but it is not required. I was just out on this road two weeks ago and it is the roughest that I have seen in 10 years. 4WD is not required and I have seen many a mini-van and sedans on this road. Traffic isn't too bad but you will see a handful of Pink Jeeps and other vehicles on the trail. The road above the vista is a well maintained forest road but it can get slick and muddy with enough rain. Take some pics and share when you get back.

Someone correct me if I am wrong but I do not believe you can get to the I-17 from Schnebly Hill Road. We took the road a couple months back and can agree that it was in super rough shape. Also, it was closed at a certain point and we had to turn around and go back down the road and back to Sedona.

Also, hopefully the Slide fire will get contained quickly and will not scorch too much of the beautiful scenery and area.:Cry:

Schnebly Hill Road definitely provides access to I-17, during the summer months. I believe the road is closed part way up in the winter. I took this trail at the end of April, and it was open all the way. It was a bit rough, but definitely doesn't require 4WD. Oh, and yeah it's scenic alright.

We just ran up Schebly Hill on Sunday. We normally run it from Flagstaff down to Sedona as they views are much nicer. It is open all the way and it is much rougher (a lot of exposed rocks / erosion) than I've ever seen it but still doable. The Pink Jeeps only go to the vista and then back down. There are a lot of them, but I've never had any issues on this trail. I'd make sure you have 1-2 hours to do it as it's pretty slow going. Enjoy!

Schnebly Ranch Road

I got brave and took the trail last Tuesday on the way to Sedona. Yes it was a bit rough after the vista, but the view was great. I wanted to keep my speed down and not ride the brakes all the way down. I used 4L and used 1 or 2 most of the way. Got all the way up to 3rd gear for a short stretch. Only bumped a skid plate one time. Took 2 hours and my wife would not drive.

I was there on Saturday for my first "off-roading" experience. The views are amazing. The road is really rough, but nothing too steep. The guy I was with had a 2wd truck and had no problem - Just need good ground clearance.

Very cool! Glad you guys ended up running the trail. A factory stock 2WD 4runner is capable of running this trail so long as you go slow. It is a beautiful trail that is best if you take you time and take in the views. I was just up there a few weekends ago pre-running some trails for Sedonafest and took this picture:
