School me on the 4wd system on the 99 limited

To be honest, I don't know if I ever plan on running 33s or any big rubber at all. As it is, I'm still trying to wrap my head around driving a vehicle with a high center of gravity. That being said though, I've got a buddy who is a engineer by day and Heep fanatic by night and loves doing **** like rear end swaps, etc. It must be one of those Jeep things I don't understand. Any way, what would just the parts for a locker go for provided I can convince him to help me with the install?

ARB rear locker ~$800
ARB small compressor (for a single locker) ~$160
ARB large compressor (for dual lockers/onboard air for filling tires) ~$270
Sometimes (like once or twice a year) ARB will run a deal where they will throw in the compressor for free when you buy a locker so if you wait a while, you could save some $.
