Should be without, as past Scion headunits installed with ease on non JBL 4Runners. If you have JBL, you might have to get the Solara nav, which is the same as the Sienna one with the digital output.

Okay, I think I found that the steering wheel controls will still work however can some confirm?

Haven't found any info on the aux audio jack.

Wow, thanks a ton OP. I just installed my Scion nav, Grounded the parking brake cable, and added a switch that allows my passangers to watch a DVD while driving.

Yes, i know it's dangerous, but, I won't be doing any watching...

Does this unit require a map dvd for the GPS system? If so, where would you get it?

Finally someone else has done this (messaged cpjones way back and I guess he's not active here anymore)! I've been wanting to get it since I first saw cpjones pictures but couldn't find anyone else who's done it! Do you have pictures of the system in your car, and where did you got it from? I'm thinking of buying one from ebay but if there's a better option I'd appreciate it!

No fit kit needed. Got mine for about $625. Took out the old scion radio and installed this one. Looking to add a sub down the line. Sounds very tight and more responsive than the Pioneer/Scion unit.

if you have a sound system installed would you need any additional things to install the scion nav

cause i have a 05 v8 sr5 with a diamond/boston full system installed so before i spend a grand i want to be sure it fits

VSS (Speed) Wire For Scion SNS Navigation Unit?

Hello,

I am about to install the 2008 Scion Navigation System (SNS).

I have also located the Toyota Scion Nav installation instructions at the below link:

Those are the official Toyota installation instructions for the Scion. However, pages 8 and 12 of the instructions CLEARLY indicate that it is NOT necessary to connect the Scion's VSS ("SPD") lead to the unit.

I am confused about this. I know with 100% certainty that the unit has a built-in gyroscope, but normally the gyro works in conjunction with the VSS/SPD input to improve navigation accuracy (this is referred to as "dead reckoning").

Does anyone know if connecting the VSS/SPD wire will do anything at all? Or will the nav unit simply ignore the input, or worse- cause a malfunction? Does the Scion nav unit get the vehicle's speed in some other way?

I've seen older posts on other forums indicating that the SPD connection is required. I also know there were 3 revisions of the SNS unit. I am wondering if the latest revision that I purchased does away with the VSS/SPD input altogether?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
