scoop hood on a limited? don't kill me for this

I was told by my painter that black is the easiest color to match and fade in. And if you have the hood painted and installed, more than likely they'll fade it in with the front 2 fenders so you'll never be able to tell unless you are just one of those people who know when a car has been painted. But put it this way... if you have a limited with a hood scoop, you've had work done.

I think a lot of people would rather have the scoop than just a reg. hood. I'm either going to buy the CF hood from Burtman or just swap out with a junked Sport.

Looks great with black, cause it blends from afar, but up close you can see it and how cool it looks.

not to hijack the thread, but the inserts on that bumper are all screwed up. Would look decent if they were straight.

hahaha, at first i didnt like the look of the scoop, but my sister got a 3rd gen sport edition with the scoop, and my twin brother ended up with the 3rg gen highlander edition with the scoop, and i still didnt like the scoop, until we lined our rigs up and took pics, and my rig was in the middle and just looked out of place. hahaha. and so now i want a hood with a scoop, but doubt i will do it just cause it has no purpose. i still think it would be cool to have 3 4runners in the house with scoops though.

The scoop really sets the 3rd gens apart and was actually not overly common like it is with the 4th gens.

Definately just buy the limited with all the options but the scoop, and then buy either a stand-alone scoop or try to find a local wrecking yard with a sport edition hood. If you're REALLY lucky you may even find one that is the same color as your Limited and then it would be a really easy swap with no paint work required and you would have a spare non-scooped hood just in case...and any local body shop can easily paint your scoop/hood to match using your factory paint code if you have to buy one of a different color.

This is true, when a painter runs the paint code off the car and then mixes the paint it is only a starting point, they then are supposed to use judgment and spray-out panels to tint the color to match your existing paint as closely as possible. But even then it will be a little different because it is fresh paint and fresh clear coat, more so due to the clear. Black is the easiest but that doesn't mean that it can't come out slightly off. For the majority of the population though this is close enough though.
