Scratched up silver paint on your center console? I got you-

The silver paint on the center console and shift indicator of my 2010 were all sorts of scratched and beaten up so after a good interior spring cleaning I decided something had to be done. Grabbed a can of Behr Soft Iron Metallic satin finish spray paint from Home Depot and viola!

Had to dremel the little spots holding the gear indicator piece in place and was able to pop it right out

Very happy with the results and the color was perfect

* oh and I originally did 3 light coats and was very happy with the results. Decided to spray some clear coat over it to protect the finish but that left it wayyy to shiny, so I had to give it all one final very light coat of the Behr paint… so don’t do that LOL. It looks and feels perfect like this

I tried to find the areas you had to dremel but couldn’t identify in the pictures. Can you add some arrows or something?

The 4 posts I circles on the left poke through the gear indicator piece in each of the places I circled on the right, which holds the piece on the right solidly in place. The other 2 posts on the left that I didn’t circle go through the holes on the right and act as guides for placement during the assembly process. Imagine a dollop of glue (which was actually the same grey plastic) being placed into the 4 holes, each slightly larger than their corresponding holes, and they looked like a tiny little button on top of each hole.

Once those little button tops were dremeled off the piece can pop right out. The second pic shows the piece back in place
