scratches on radio faceplate

anyone know any remedies to remove slight scratches on the faceplate of the stock radio, not the nav. any feedback is much appreciated! thanks!

I have some really fine scratches in mine as well. Just from wiping dust off with a microfiber towel.

Doing a little research I found some people recommend Novus plastic cleaner and another called Plexus. I have yet to try either product. But I found them on amazon and they seem to get good user reviews.

I'm considering getting some sort of clear screen protector applied on the faceplate? If you end up trying one of these products post your results on the thread. Good luck.
 
I use Plexus on my motorcycle acrylic windshield. I don't think it is designed to remove scratches but your scratches must be so small that I think this product may work fine as well. I remember learning a lesson a few years back and that is to never use windex on the plastic faceplate and this also extends to LCD panels, microwave tochpads etc. It dulls them quickly. Also, keep ArmorAll away from your faceplate. For simple cleaning, I use a small spray bottle with a 50/50 mixture of isopropyl alcohol and distilled water. It seems to work well for all of the applications I just mentioned.
 
My .02 for what it's worth... I keep an eyeglass cleaning cloth in one of the small cubbyhole holes that I use to wipe the clear plastics clean. They are designed for this purpose and work great with no scratches. Of course this doesn't help that you have scratches already though...
 
I had tiny scratches starting to show on mine on day 3 of owning my t4r.....ughhh... worries me as to how it will look in 5 years if its got scratches after only a couple days!!

let us know if you find a product that works for you...
 
I'm looking for a solution to this too. Mine came scratched from the dealer. I think the guy doing the pre-sale detailing hit mine with the vacuum hose or something. It's not horrible, but with lighting at the right angle it bothers me.
 
so it was a bright sunny day here today and when the sunlight hit my radio faceplate i noticed that it has LOTS of scratches on it.....not really noticeable in dim light, but its still quite annoying.

Anyone think its worth taking it to the dealer and complaining? I mean i've barely had the thing for 2 weeks.....i'm very worried about how it will look years from now...
 
Toothpaste (the standard white stuff) is actually a very effective polishing agent, that's how it keeps your teeth clean. I've used it on many things including very expensive guitars to take out minor scratches with great success.

I hope there is someone out there with bigger cojones than I that will try it out on the radio face plate and let us know how it works.

Mine is exactly like yours. Only notice it in direct sunlight. I called and filed a 'complaint' with my dealer about it, never heard back, but then again never followed up like I probably should have either. I did notice when I was cleaning the interior using '303' I lightly went across the display and it seemed to hide the scratches a little.

I do have a bottle of Micro-Gloss on my desk that I use for plexiglass but I believe it would work on the display, I just don't want to be the tester :) Here is a link to the product if anyone else wants to take a shot...

They have different formulas but one of them 'should' work.
 
Any updates on polishing out the scratches? I've had mine for 2-3 months and the scratches on the radio are annoying...
 
I used a glass sealant on my recently and it helped quite a bit to fill in those small scrathces. I would be afraid to polish that palstic much seeing as it scratches so easy as it is, if you put anything abrassive to it then it may scratch it up worse than it was in the beginning.

The sealant I used is from Adam's Polishes. It's about $20 a bottle, but you can use it on any glass from your windshield to your shower doors. It is like Rain-X but much better. It feels in the small scarthes. I just did this a couple of days ago so I will see how it holds up. But I'm afraid to try anything to "polish" out the scratches.
