scratches on side of center console

Hey guys I was leaving work onn my way home one day and my gps fell off the dash where I had it mounted with the suction cup. It fell into the passenger's floor board. I waited until I stopped at a light and tried to reach it. I got it but did not realize the holster I had worn all day at range training was still on my belt and when I tried to reach the gps to retrieve it the holster scratched the side of the console :dammit: :ybrick: just in front of where the seat belt is on the right side of the seat. Any suggestions on how to get the scratches out of the plastic so it looks close to what it did before. I've thought about fine steel wool but want to get some suggestions from the forum's wisdom before I make it worse. I know I could do the whole console to make it match or get the one side close and then paint it. So let me know what you think. Thanks in advance. Harold

Is it the silver area or the black? The black part depending on the scratches you might be able to make it less visible using a heat gun applying light heat just to warm the plastic up a bit and rubbing the scratch.

It is the black side panel of the console and I'll look at the heat gun..............it was pritine before
