SCS F5 3.5 BS Questions

So I'm about to purchase some new wheels and have been drooling over the F5s for awhile. Of course after I thought I had decided what I wanted they came out with 3.5 Backspacing as an option.

I am by no means an expert on aftermarket wheels so I'd really appreciate any input. Everyone I've seen on this forum and others have this wheel in 4.5 BS so I've had little to go off.

I've read up on all I could find and talked with Vin at SCS (who has been extremely helpful) and he is steering me towards the Matte Black 3.5 BS. I appreciate his recommendation (and listening to my babble). But I just wanted to get some input from other 3rd gen guys that may have experience or even just an opinion about what would best fit my needs based on the following.

So...
Most importantly I want these wheels to grow with my vehicle as I plan to keep it forever.

I want the tires to poke out just a bit more than my limited fender flares (currently tucked in quite a bit)

Currently I'm on 265/75R16 Duratracs which will get swapped over for the time being.

In the future I plan to wind up on 315/75R16s after a regear, fender well tub and more lift.

This will be a long road but one I am trying to plan for accordingly... they will honestly probably see 285/75R16s before the size mentioned above.

So really I'm curious as to what this would look like in the end with 35s and 16x8 3.5BS wheels. Even what the 285s would be like on this wheel
Will this be way to wide? Rub worse in some areas than 4.5? Stuff into the fender wells better/worse? Any input helps!

My current setup can be seen in my build thread but of course it will change accordingly and both front/rear bumpers are already on order.

I'm not afraid to lift more, cut, pound, and spend I'm really just trying to decide if 3.5 or 4.5 BS is going to be the more versatile wheel choice for my wants/needs.

Grab the 3.5" backspacing no question. It will look great and allow you to not have to run wheel spacers when you bump up your tire size.

thanks, I forgot to mention that I wanted to avoid using spacers entirely (personal preference only). Thanks for bringing it up.

No problemo - if you want to see what it will look like with 35's, look up Rockdawg84's 3rd gen build (the maroon one). His wheels are 3.625bs in those pics, but close enough.

Yeah, if you want no spacers and 315 tires, 3.5 is the clear choice IMO.

For other reference pictures you should scope anyone rocking spidertrax with stock wheels. stock wheels are something like 4.625" back spacing and with the 1.25" spidertrax on stock wheels it would be like 3.375" back spacing pretty damn close to 3.5" another thing to think about is how aggressive of tires you're gonna get. I'm running 285/75's some off brand tires that aren't too aggressive and [MENTION=82211]TCMach[/MENTION] runs the same size in mickey thompsons and his tires make mine look like donuts haha

I have the f5s in 4.5bs. they just barely stick outside the flairs. the backspacing is perfect with my 285s.. i had to do no trimming to run a 285/75/16. just remeber the more they stick out, the more mud and shit they will sling up onto your ride. i would only do the 3.5s if your positive your going 35s so you dont have to run spacers. i think it would look way to wide with just a 33, Hawaiian style..
