SCS Ray10 and Falken Wildpeak AT3 Tires are on, pic>>>

I also installed the 885 springs last week, I'm pretty close to 3", and that's with a steel bumper

I had the 884's on my V8 before the bumper and got about 2.5" or 2.75"

I just got these in 285s, still need to do more trimming

What are you using in the rear? Let us know what mods you need to get the 285's to clear in the front.

Hi guys,

I finally managed to get the SCS Ray10 wheels and Falken Wildpeak AT3 tires onto the 2006 4Runner. Here are the specs:

Car:
2006 4Runner XSP V6 with OEM sport tubes installed

Wheels:
Matte Black SCS Ray10 17x8.5 -10mm offset - Love these wheels, great job on the design and quality Vin

Tires:
Falken Wildpeak AT3 tires - 265/70/17

Lift:
Daystar 2.5/1.5

I am getting a little bit rubbing when turning the wheels. I will have to do the fender liner clearancing this weekend. I'm glad I didn't go any bigger on the size as the 265/70 seems to be plenty for a daily driver.

And after that I plan to do the chrome delete (grill, door handles, and rear tailgate trim).

Thanks guys!

You looking for a sport roof rack to go with your side steps? I'm selling my old one. Also killer looking setup, I just upgraded from 265/70 to 285/70.

On the front, I only need to worry about the back of the wheel. (steel bumper, so no clerance issue on the front fender) I am currently catching the tire on the fender by the cab when turning, doesn't seem to be hitting the body mount but I will chop that as well

In the rear I have OME 895 springs, no issues so far. I'll be testing flex this weekend, may need to extend the bump stops

Possibly, shoot me a PM with pics and price if you are able to.

I actually wasn't considering doing the sport roof since the tubes and the roof are so far apart, the mismatch hasn't really bothered me. The bigger priority is the chrome delete.

Very cool, keep us updated.

It just goes to show you that every car is a little different. With the 1.25" spacers and stock wheels, modest lift, and 285/70/17 tires, I am under the impression that this is flirting with BCM. But I know some guys have gotten away without it.

I'm close, but I think I'll clear it overall (at least on the road)

I'm using FJ wheels with a 15mm offset (0.6") (same as 5th gen wheels) No spacer

I'm doing the BMC just because I want to make it easy when/if I switch to 285/75/17 and make sure I don't rub off-road

Good point about "on road" clearance. Driving around town can show much better "clearance" results than on the trails where you are flexing the body/bushings with all sorts of terrains and elevation changes.

And also, my SCS wheels stick out 1" further to than your FJ wheels... that certainly plays a role too, and reason for why I'm hesitant to do the 285 unless I am prepared to chop. But for now, I think these 265/70/17 Falkens look plenty big enough to keep a smile on my face.

A suspension lift does nothing for "wheeling" tire clearance (full compression rubbing/turning). Only on-road, ride height "turning" clearance.

A body lift actually helps out with both.

Suspension lift helps a little with tire clearance, but yeah it doesn't fix everything.

Tire clearance is largely the only reason I would consider a body lift. Never been a big fan of BL lifts as they don't have any real benefits besides clearing larger tires. I am thinking about finding a 1/2" lift to give my steel bumper a little extra flex room

Interesting.

From what I understand, the OME 885's will net about 2.5-3.0" of lift. That's comparable to the Daystar 2.5, which netted me just over 3" of front lift.

With the 265/70/17 Falken AT3W tires, I had to do quite a bit of work to get the wheels to clear up front - Cut front bumper, move fender liner 1" forward, and trim the front mudflaps. Granted I have an aggressive -10mm offset on my 17x8.5 wheels, but it's comparable to stock wheels with a 1.25" spacer in terms of where the wheels sits relative to the fender.

Given how close my wheels come to the body, I'm surprised that you didn't have to do the body mount chop with that tall of a tire and only the modest lift.

Eager to see pics when ready

Ground to body above wheel in front 38 inches, in back 39 inches.

Thanks, I got that. Just buy the whole car...LOL

That's certainly an option :-)

It's funny... I bought a XSP (which is essentially an SR5 with some add-ons) and there's quite a few options that I don't like that I'm addressing:

- Running boards swapped for Sport Tubes (too plain)
- Chrome trim being swapped for body paint trim
- Borla Exhaust swapped for OEM (too loud)
- XSP wheels swapped for SCS Ray10 (too big)
- non-heated seats modified for heat (too cold)

My wife tells me we should have just bought a Sport/Limited in the first place lol :bash:

By chrome delete I'm guessing you're going to plastidip? I have chrome too and hate it but just couldn't live with plastidipping my door handles black. Wish it was easier to swap out the handles with color matches ones.

My brother has a 2006 SR5, has the chrome trim, I don't care for the look at all. But, it does have some pin striping that looks cool, would make a decent mod...

No not plasti-dip.

I'm talking about using actual body painted grill, handles, rear tailgate trim from a limited/sport model.

Well, I finally pulled the trigger and bought the following items:

- White 06-09 grill (Sport/Limited)
- White door handles (Sport/Limited)
- White tailgate trim (Sport/Limited)

I will soon have the complete set of the items above in chrome if anyone is interested, taken off my 2006 XSP package 4Runner.

Looks good.

Did you have any issues with getting the tires installed? I'm at a Firestone now, and they're saying they can't get the wheel on without stressing/stretching the tire too much. They're backmounting it since they do not want to scratch the lip.
