SE, GS, Natl designators on online pricing websites

Hey guys,

I'm going to be purchasing an 04' V8 Sport here before long and in my internet browsing I found that there are multiple designators for the same exact vehicle. I'm torn between the Galactic Gray and the Stratospheric Mica, the latter not being shipped to the southeast so I may have to travel north to purchase, they seem to be everywhere up there. I love the Gray and how it changes color at night depending on the angle.

For example, a 2004 4runner Sport V8 4WD will have three different suffixes, SE, GS, or Natl. No difference in the invoice or MSRP. I did, however, note that nada.com indicated that not all colors were available for each of the three designators. Does anyone know what they represent?

I also noticed that the price of some options differs sigificantly from NC, where I live, to Va. The rear spolier has a MSRP of $399 here and $200 in Va. Is it the same spoiler? If so, I will be going to Va to buy the truck.

Ok,

Seems to be that there are three regions for Toyota. SouthEast, Gulf States, and National. Each is buying the same car, but Post Production Options differ as well as availability of certain models. As far as the spolier, the one that comes on from the factory is $200 MSRP. SE Toyota dealer charge $399 and Gulf State Toyota dealers charge $300 MSRP. I still am curious if it is the same spolier? All the literature I have seems to suggest it is?

Bryan: There is also the MID-Atlantic region. I bought my '02 Sport from a dealer in Maryland. I bought my '03 from a dealer in Raleigh, they are in different regions. My Raleigh dealer had three different rear spoilers to offer, he also had four different styles of running boards.

I chose to stick with the standard Toyota spoiler installed at the port/factory that is on 96% of all 4Runners. I shy away from options that tend to be installed (drilling holes in sheetmetal) by the local HS dealer.

SouthEast, Gulf States dealer network

Gulf States and Southeast are grandfathered distributors from the mid 50's. They distribute all of the Toyotas on the Gulf Coast and GA,FL,AL,SC& NC. They add an additional 1.5% of hold back to the invoices it sells to the dealers in those states. They can add administrativeand port fees to the invoices that don't apply to the Toyota national distribution system.
