Seafoam'd the 4Runner

just did it thru the vacuum line. Threw all the codes on me...ck engine, vsc, all that...did a quick reset w battery and runs like a champ.

thanks to CAD_GA1390 for puttin up that info. I knew there had to be a method to get it in there without extra tools.

I have done it before in the oil and gas but def. notice in power and the nasty exhaust shows how much carbon is gettin out. You guys rock-thanks for info!!!!!!!!

It doesn't have a traditional line coming off of the brake booster because they are electronic. But it does have one under the plastic cover running from the top center, just after the throttle body spacer, to the drivers side. This is a vacuum line that you can use.
 
ok so i just did this on my way to the dealership,(currently sitting at the dealership getting an oil change) drove about 60 miles with it.

i didnt have a funnel small enough for the vacuum line, so i ended up taking a cd booklet, ripping one of the pages out, and rolling it up. it worked pretty well. so as i poured what i thought was 1/3 to 1/2, i hooked it back up, killed it. and poured 1/2 of the rest in the oil, and the rest of that in the gas. and after doing so, i came to realize i only poured about 1/5th in the vacuum line. and 2/5s else where.

when i fired it back up, there was no smoke at all, but it did idle at about 600rpms, compared to the usual 1000. and it was reallllly quiet. so i let it sit for about 5 minutes idling, and nothing came of it. so i took off, jumped on the free way. and on the first round of flooring it a tiny bit of smoke came out, and that was it.

so my question is, should i pour another 1/3 in the vacuum line tonight after my oil change? or was it just clean and i have nothing to worry about? thanks a ton you guys. i dont know jack when it comes to mechanics of a vehicle.
 
Did mine this morning and it was smoking a little right as I got the 1/3 bottle in the motor. Shut it off, let it sit for 20, started her up and got a nice satisfying plume of smoke upon revving the engine up. Drove it like I stole on the freeway for about 20 miles with a bit of smoke coming out the first few miles. Definitely made it idle smoother. I'm taking a long trip to Texas next week, so I will update with MPG after.

OK you should put a full 16oz can in your tank in order for it to be effective. You need to get that concentration high enough to clear your injectors. If you only plan on putting 1/3 of a can in your tank, make sure you only have 1/3 or less gas in there.
Regarding the vacuum line, make sure your car is warmed up, running, and let the vacuum line suck it in until it dies, or you suck up about 1/2 of a can. Let it sit for about 15 minutes, then start her up and enjoy!
 
The PCV hose and the VSV hose distribute the seafoam through the intake evenly according to the factory diagrams.

I gotta get around to Seafoamin' my V8 this week, been lazy.
 
Ok I'm still having trouble deciding on which hose I should be using. Someone want to point me in the right direction?

Knowing my luck i would start sucking up what i thought would be the correct hose and it would somehow start shooting out my stereo.....lol.
 
It worth it just for the half a mile of thick smoke :guitar2:

On the V8, I used the small tube w/ the black cap on it and a piece of tubing, located under the V8 cover... It took forever, I tried the larger hose with the braiding that goes in behind the throttle body, but my engine started making weird sounds. I did stall out the truck one time, until I got the hang of it.

I take pretty good care of my truck, but we'll see if this does anything for MPG.
