Searched, but can't find: Which spacer w/ FJ springs for a V8?

So before anyone jumps on me, I've been searching for days and can't find what I'm looking for. I decided to go ahead and do the FJ spring lift after all the positive feedback that they seem to get on here. Got a set off the FJ forums for $30 + shipping :bluejump:. However, I can't find the info I need to decide whether I want to get the 1/4'' toytec spacer or the other that toytec nets 3/4'' (is the the 1/2'' thick on that people says yield 1'' lift?). I really like gaterose's stance. But he has the V6 and I the V8. Is his considered level or slightly raked? I have seen in multiple posts that ARK_Swamp_Rider (who seems to be the unofficial guru of the FJ springs lift) suggests the larger spacer for the V8's but I haven't found any pictures of people who have used that set up on a V8 w/ the normal (or sport) suspension (non air).

someone please help solve this dilemma for me! Pictures would be greatly appreciated. I want to go ahead and order these so I can get this lift on! I'll be sure to post pictures of my truck's progress when I do.

Hold on for a few hours and I can get you a pick. I have the 1/2 toytec spacer, which yields close to 1" with FJ springs and shocks, im installing bushing and all pro spacers now, waiting on friends to get something else out of way.

With the 1/2 spacer and springs, my front is about 3/4" lower than the rear.

^ There you go. I can find pics, may take me a while. I can remember several who have done the swap, just not sure which engine they have. I do advise the 1/2" spacer. What I've learned is that with my rear air suspension set on normal, my rear sits higher than the OEM (almost the same after FJ springs installed).

As far as Gaterose's, I'd call his both, depending on how you look at it. Some see level as equal space in the fender wells, others see level as looking at the running boards/roof rack. I tend to think the running board/roof racks level is the best look (this leaves a little less gap in the front fender well than the rear). IMO with equal distance at the fender wells it's nose high. Also, you won't sag as bad with the FJ springs, but still some with a heavy load. The little difference will help in this case as well (may not be an issue depending on how much you tow).

As far as my knowledge, I can't take all the credit. CJ3Flyr really helped me out. At the time, he was the only one who had done the swap and posted much info on it. He greatly influenced my decision and helped answer all my questions. I gotta give credit where it's due, he was a huge help.

BTW, sweet deal you got on the FJ springs, prices skyrocketed when the FJ owners realized how popular these were.

No pic tonight, had to replace my right front lower control arm bushing and alignment parts, well in the process. they are STUCK in the control arm.. Will get some pics for ya soon

Or you could do the daystar 2.5/1.5 with the fj stuff, its what I have and looks great (I think) ha ha.

It seems you are yet again correct. a V6 with the 1/2'' spacer looks a bit nose high: (attachment 1)

yet, a v8 with the 1/2'' spacer looks just right. (attachment 2)

appologize, havent got the pics of mine up yet. Internet at the house is out, but works here at work, and of course dont have pics at work. I have 1/2 and v8, number measurement wise the front is lower than rear. However looks, sometimes it looks even sometimes it looks nose high. Actually thinking about getting the rear 1.5" spacer and cutting it down to raise the rear maybe 3/4 of an inch.

I have a 07 V6 that I did the fj stuff and the 1/4" toy tec and the boards sit dead level. I'm with Swamp rider this is a good set up for the V6 but with the V8 I would do the 1/2 for sure.Good luck!

Finally got the springs and 1/2'' spacer installed today using the "no spring compressor" method. Looks great, love the stance. I was also astounded at how much better the ride quality is. I guess I thought everyone was just blowin smoke about how much these springs improve the ride.

Thanks for all the help. It was dark when I bolted the wheels back on so i'll take pics tomorrow and share.

So it looks like I got about 2" in the front using the 1/2'' toytec spacer and .75" in the rear.

Also, calc'd my hwy gas milage at 17.0 mpg. Not as bad as I was expecting.
