Recieved my cable and software.. loaded it onto an old laptop running xp..
Works great... turned off eco-bar... turned off seatbelt chime... turned on roll windows down with remote.. and a couple more...
i learned that the tpms threshhold is 25.4psi.. dont know if you can change it?
I can register new keys if needed and can register tpms sensors if needed...
All around good $15 investment ( had old laptop already)

I purchased the dongle you linked to but Carista says it won't work because it's not ELM327 compatible. Anyone else experience this? I'm wondering if I should return this for the Carista-branded dongle. Thanks.
I just tried that dongle with the latest Carista software (version 3.3) on Android and it worked just fine. Maybe explain what steps you went through and what you see? For example, when you plug in the dongle and turn the ignition to "ON", you should see a light on the dongle showing that it has power.
The dongle you have should work unless it is defective.
Thanks but I got it to work, it was in the sequencing and pairing to "OBDII" instead of the MAC address of the BAFX. I'm using this new Acer Chromebood with Google Play store enabled (beta) so sometimes the android apps are wonky, not sure if that had anything do to with it.
Now all that's left to do is pony up for the Carista subscription. I e-mailed support to see if there is any lifetime-type of option still available and there isn't. Just to confirm, Carista is the only way to get into the light/window/chime/etc. customizations aside from the Techstream method, correct?

Just ordered mine too. Stupid dealer wouldn't turn it off for me, and yes I was nice when I asked. I have a laptop with Win 7 on it, hopefully it will work. You guys standby for questions, because I'm not so "techhy", but hopefully I can get it work! Thanks guys!

Helpful thread. Looking over the details for Carista in the app store, it states compatibility with 4Rs 2010 and newer. I'm a 2008 but seeing as it's the same gen as the 2010+, I am hoping it will make that leap..? Can anyone confirm this? Want to know before I shell out for the subscription and the diagnostic tool. Thanks y'all. You're all MVPs in my eyes; quit squabbling over safety. Some of us just have enormous backpacks

I'm searching around for information about Carista and Techstream, and finding a lot of confusion about the actual costs. Carista apparently changed to SAS pricing and now charges $40/yr for the app (in addition to the cost of the module). You can get a free trial, but if you plan to use it repeatedly over time you're going to pay. Techstream is more confusing - the software is cheap, but it looks like Toyota requires you to buy a subscription, which is very expensive ($400/yr).
Can anyone here shed some light on this? All I want is to turn off most of the chime and chirps, and change some of the window and door settings.

I got Carista, bought it on Amazon Prime for $27CAD. You sign up for the 1 year subscription that has the first 30-days free. I used mine 3 times to get the exact settings that I want; now I no longer need it and have a reminder in my calendar to cancel the subscription on day 29. The nice thing is you can also help your friends and family out if they want to use it during this time too.

It's been a while since I did mine but iirc, Techstream came with the cable, but required me to use an older Windows XP computer. So once you have Techstream installed on an old XP machine, you just need the USB to OBD2 cable.
I'm pretty sure I got mine on eBay and it was a similar package to this one:

Once you have the software and cable, the rest is pretty darn easy.
EDIT: Looks like some of these newer ones support Windows 7 and 10...

Carista at least is straightforward, I understand what is involved. Buy the doodad and the app, use it, and either get a refund or just pay the $40 for a year.

AFAIK, no subscription is required, unless something changed since I did mine two years ago...
