Seat noises?

Annoyed

Ok, this is an odd one.
I've had my T4R for about 4 months now, and recently, for the first time since I've owned her, we've had a period of time when the temp. has been above freezing for more than an hour or so.. (I hate buying cars in winter, but my hand was forced)

I've started to hear noises from the drivers' seat, sounds like it's loose.. or some part of it is loose.. The main mounts are secure, so it's gotta be something inside it. The thing is, this noise only appears when the ambient temp is relatively warm, 40 or above. If it's cold, I don't notice it.

Anyone else encounter this?

As far as the seat, it's got the manual seatback angle, front/rear height adjusters, and the electric lumbar support.

Hrrm... looks like I'll have to see if the Toyota platimum extended warranty I bought for it when I purchased it covers it.

So what did you find out? Now both of my seats are making the CLICK noise. Usually around tight turns, hard stops, or even just getting in and out. Its annoying and should not be happening. Let me know. Im going in for an oil change on Monday and Im going to mention it.

Nothing as of yet. This is an extended time frame issue.

It seems to be temperature dependent; I don't notice it if the ambient temp is below about 30 or so, and I'm not going to try to talk to the dealer until I can reasonably be certain that we're not going to be below 30 when I take it in. Another month and a half or so, at best.

It would be just my luck.. I take time off work, schedule an appt.. and that particular day it's a cold snap, and he can't hear it.

Well lately ive been driving clients around and everytime they get in or our or if I take a fast turn, I can hear the "cracking" seat sound??? Very annoyed. How has nobody on this site had this issue with resolution? HELP! Would this sound be covered on my extended warranty plan now that Im at 40k miles?

I've been hearing the same noise but my question is...what would be the downfall if I left it alone....it's been a year since I started hearing it and I can't say that it has gotten worse.

If anyone is interested I have the Technical Service Bulletin from Toyota dating back from 10/20/06 that talks about this exact issue. PM me your email and I can send it as a PDF attachment.

Along with any others you know of. Im bringing it in and want as many TSBs fixed as possible. I recently bought a cpod 2006 and none of this was taken care of. Thanks for your help

I find it funny they say drivers side MANUL seat. I have an 07 Limited with driver side power seat and it makes the same noise.

Decided to attach the TSB here...

Thanks.. that will be handy. Since it's covered under factory warranty, I don't the the toyota extended warr. will be able to deny it.

Sometimes I think it's the console and not the seat as I cannot get it to do it by pushing etc either. And like I said it's not just the manual seats that do it.

I can easily replicate it by pushing the seat if the weather's warm.

And as far as parts, the TSB calls for replacing the seat.

My 2005 has the same manual driver seat issue. I have ignored the noise for a year now, but I

I too have had this problem. I bought a can of Liquid Wrench white lithium grease (spray type) and sprayed the seat rails. First I moved the seats forward and covered the carpets and sprayed the seat rails. This has worked for a year and a half.

I have some white Litium grease and when i get around to it I'll give it a try. You'd think if it was just a matter of lubrication Toyota would have figured it out.

Talked to Toyota's extended warr. people yesterday, they say it ought to be covered under the platinum ext. warr., so the next step is to let the dealer inspect the truck, which will happen this Saturday.

I'll post what I find out.

I had this same problem - the seat felt like it was shifting in its brackets on turns. 2005 SE V8 w/ manual adjustment.

I took the TSB into the dealership at which I bought the car. I fortunately can only say good things about my dealership - for they replaced the entire seat.

Unfortunately, each dealer will behave differently.

Additionally, I do not think the problem is gone all together. I think it is still there - sometimes.
