there have been a few people who have added cushioning, if you can find a vehicle upholstery shop near you that shouldn't be too expensive to do.
my personal complaints are something that padding or covers wouldn't help though, i want someone to try to swap in a lexus seat or something

No answer to the post, but has anyone been able to lower their seat further? The rearview is annoying since half of its blocked by the rear section of the headliner/hatch. Its hard to explain, but if I hunch down in my seat slightly I get a clear view.
I know when I had my infiniti there was a mod on the adjustment screw by moving a c clip you can get the seat to drop lower.

Yes, I did look at some I found online but they are very expensive. I would rather find a mod for the OEM seats. There is a local auto upholstery shop that I should drop by.
I had a hard time getting a comfortable position too. I think the seats are just designed for shorter people. Using the lumbar bladder I was able to flatten out the curve in the seat so now it doesn't cause discomfort on long drives. I wish I could transplant the sport seats from my previous 3 series. Those fit me like a glove.

Gonna be grumpy old man here did you guys test drive 4r 1st ? It shouldn't be that expensive just take cover off & add foam pad where needed ? Did it my 03 Tacoma extra seat & little in lumbar .

+1, my 2008 never gave me any problems. Gotta work on getting the positioning exact in the 2016

i rented one for 5 days but that doesn't mean i like the seats, they suck if you are tall. Unfortunately the 4Runner is also basically the only option in its class, so you just deal with it. If I could spend $1,000 or so and make the seat more comfortable i would, i'm just not aware of any options outside of adding padding and padding isn't the problem i have.
the seating issues are typical of japanese cars for tall people; the seat doesn't go far enough back, the steering wheel doesn't telescope out far enough, the seat doesn't provide enough leg support, etc...

How tall are you? Does your SR5 have the power driver's seat? I'm 6', and I have mine set so the back of the seat is all the way down and the front is up enough to support my thighs. I also swung the rear view mirror all the way up on the front ball attached to the glass. This places it closer to the roof so you are looking more "down" to the rear. An added side benefit - and what I was actually looking for - is that it is not directly in my line of sight when looking for traffic across the right front of the hood anymore. A lot of people don't seem to realize the mirror has 2 ball joints on the arm.

The day I got my '17, I had a business trip that had me driving from North Carolina to Louisiana. Softex seats, BTW.
I did notice a bit of back discomfort, especially compared to my previous dealings with half-ton Chevrolet and Ram pick-up trucks, as well as my '13 Ford Focus.
During the trip, I tried moving the seat up and down and played with the lumbar support a bit but no real relief during the trip. Just some stretching every few hours kept everything in check.
Over the past few months, the discomfort just seemed to go subside on its own. Didn't wind up doing anything to the seats.

I'm 6'2 but thin guy but I do have a bad back , I've found I have to constantly re-adjust during long drives (more than 3hrs) ! Better seat imo than 4th which I really found uncomfortable ! Why it belongs to my 20yr old son now . Even with my skinny ol ass bottom part doesn't seem wide enough ? Lumbar adj. does help but I usually use a neck pillow for mid back !

The 3rd Gen seats are medieval. Single reason I sold my 2002, after 20 minutes my legs were numb and my back was in knots. I need a fat ass seat.
Gen 5 seats are more accommodating but still not as comfortable as a Big 3 seat.

I'm sure there's a comfortable position for me in my seat somewhere. My issue is thatthere's so many options with it being powered (never had power seats before), I start to decide if it is actually comfortable then mess with the settings again. And then I can never find that setting again lol. It was definitely comfy during my test drive though.
I did finally find a decent seating position that's good on my back. I usually bring the front leg portion up just a bit. Then I get the rear portion of the seat just below horizontal of that. Then bring the backrest up just so that I'm a bit reclined. Then move the whole seat forward so that my right upper calf is on that little curve of the center console. But then I feel far from my steering wheel even with it towards me all the way :redbrick::redbrick:

6'3 and sr5 with power seats and a sunroof. I run both the adjustments all the way down, I tried to kick the thigh adjustment up and it just made the mirror situation worse. Head room I'm cool it's just that mirror gets annoying I've only owned pickup's and a g35 coupe so I'm used to a clear picture in the rear view.
I remember reading something about the double adjustment on here, I think I tried and it didn't seem like it was adjustable. I'll try today when I get home, the mirror seriously just needs maybe a half inch lower and it would be perfect.
