Yea Thats a tough one. That price did include the tire capable compressor and 25% off labor coupon. Also the carrier which needs replacing (Randys has used cores on the shelf $120)

Pricing marlins set up after shipping and core refund, front/rear ARB equipped 3176 + larger compressor + carrier = $3561
This would also require you to break down and send your rear 3rd member.
I think there might be some additional shipping charges but im not really sure how this setup works.

I could add another locker up front for 3800 ish. So $240 difference, to have a local shop work it and in 1 day. Thinking about it, Im ok paying that knowing that I've got them 10 minutes away. There might be more going on in the front that needs replacing, so it feels a little better keeping the work local. They warranty their work too so in case something goes wrong at least im dealing with a local shop.

Granted, im installing a Yukon zip locker where marlins setup is an ARB. Read into these debates all over the forums. The kicker for me was yukon's 2yr $2000 warranty on any damaged parts due to the locker. Worth a shot in my book. Also saved a couple hundred.

Pros and Cons for both routes. Im just stoked im gonna be locked up soon!!

Woah, not too bad actually... In all honesty, I doubt you'll ever find a difference between the ARB and Zip locker. I have no real data on that, but we're only small 4runners running max of 35's - its really not that much stress compared to the guys running 40's with big block V8's, etc. Either way - locked is locked, and it will be awesome. Time is money, and money is time - if they're doing the work, it takes some stress away anyhow. I was going to go through Randy's originally until they told me they wouldnt sell me a front ARB! ???

It was an awesome trip! Left a little bit of CoCo on the trail and replaced a CV in about an hour.

One hell of a day...

Just myself and hcck3d. We decided to explore and tackle the 311 trail. First part proved to be fairly trivial, but the 311 A section had some fun sections.

Also had my first "general CV fail". Very interesting... No significant pop or any place of real stress. It just began to slowly click every few minutes, then would click every few seconds, still provided forward drive, and then, full failure.

Weather proved itself - was great and a nice cool fall day in the early part, then turned to rain, then to a heavy slush snow. Made it out just before dark.

Evans closes in December!!! We need to go again.

bummed i couldn't make it i just got to much work to do on my truck still and winters coming and I'm trying to get my house up to snuff, that said anyone want to come over one weekend and help me wire up my winch and swap out the steel winch line for a synth one my bro and law hooked my up with for my wedding present, i also got that and TRE's,ball joints,Steering rack and poly bushings i got to do as well, so if any of you guys get bored and want to work on a truck hit me up, hahaa....hopefully i can get my crap together one day to make it out with you guys..

Much better than I expected. Didn't notice the tire getting too gummed up. Was aired down to 15psi so I am sure that helped out... first trip on them so...

Just make sure it's not one taken from the east coast. There are a few dealers around here who take advantage of the NW premium and grab ones a lot cheaper from known rusty areas to flip them here.

Luckily it was literally just one more hill until an exit road, but I was on an ice covered patch of ground and even with the locker on, the tires just spun in the back. Ended up using a strap to pull me up the rest of the hill to the flat area where I was able to change out the CV.

Now I'm in search of more spares... might get 2 this time.

Honestly, Ive just been keeping an eye on the forums / classifieds for trucks being parted out. I've normally found used OEM ones for ~30 to 40 each time. Miles? Who cares... I figure they'll break from abuse before they just "wear out"
