Seattle, WA Area - 99 T4R SR5 Stolen

My T4R was stolen from my house this morning around 5:00 AM near Rainier and Othello St. If anyone has any information, please let me know. VIN - JT3HN86R1X0218794

I appreciate you keeping an eye out. I thought the same thing about the sun-faded paint.

Not too soon at all. My GF has been driving it to work and she went outside this morning around 7:30 and it was just gone. It was not parked illegally, but I called the towing company anyway. They of course didn’t have it.

I have a Wyze cam looking out my front window, which is where it was parked. I checked the footage and my car was just barely in the FOV, but sure enough, I saw a guy walk up to my vehicle and open up the passenger door. (The locks have been having problems in warm weather as the 3rd gens are prone to. So I’m assuming the passenger side didn’t lock when the lock button was pressed.) There was another car that pulled into the shot, and they appeared to be helping.

Since I didn’t have the best angle on it, I went to a few local businesses and I was able to pull some footage from their camera system. I could see the other car that pulled up and they were definitely involved. Three people involved. The guy walked up at 4:55 AM and they were gone by 4:57 AM.

Damn, that's a major bummer. I've noticed my locks have been getting less and less responsive recently, funny you mention that (first year owning this car.) Any idea as to how they could start it? These ignition tumblers are pretty tight
Probably don't want to hear this, but I would not be surprised if it's in the CHAZ right now

Yeah, I was in the process of collecting parts to fix the locks actually.

I’m really not sure how they started it. They looked as if they had done this many times before. Hot wired it?

5lb dent puller in the key hole... two tugs and it will rip the tumbler out... the core is left in tact and a flat head screw driver can turn the vehicle on.

Had it happen to me before sadly, and only reason I know it was a dent puller... thieves left it in the vehicle when it was recovered with the tumbler still attached to the screw on the end of the dent puller.

Hope you get your rig back unmolested.

Sorry to hear man. Mine was stolen in 2016 while visiting some friends in Puyallup. Cops found it two weeks later in Fife.

Mine was pretty trashed, but I was able to clean it up and restore most of it. I hope you get yours back! I never thought I was going to see mine again.

Possibly so. I laugh internally when I see these old school devices every now and then, but after this, I might be investing in one.

I was thinking of a keyed battery disconnect switch that interrupts the positive lead going to the starter.

That's a great idea as well! Yeah, I don't think there is a way to stop it from ever happening, but I can sure as hell make it much harder to do.
