They are just bootlegged vehicles. Sorta like how certain years of toyota corollas and chevy metros are the same vehicle (Chevy just bout the shell and badged it themselves). This company is just contracting the vehicle plant to make them these vehicles, which are obviously the same as other vehicle manufacturers (Toyota, Nissan) to their proprietary specifications. I bet there is a plant somewhere that still makes 3rd gen 4Runners, maybe in China or something. Think about it, they made the damn VW Beetle in Mexico up until like 10 years ago even though it hasn't been available here since the 1970's!

The Prizm is the car that was a clone to the Corolla. I think the Metro was a lot smaller.

Looks more like a 2nd gen to me. It doesn't have a liftgate in the back like a 3rd gen, but a tailgate like a 2nd.

Looks more like a 2nd gen to me. It doesn't have a liftgate in the back like a 3rd gen, but a tailgate like a 2nd.

I am using damn IE 7 so I wasn't able to see the picture of the liftgate, but yes you are correct in that assertion. The small trucks look exacly like Frontiers, its funny! And who are these people anyways??

I was curious about the large number of new models of this chinese company. After browsing for a while, it is obvious that they have purchased the blueprints of the 2nd gen 4R and the concurrent toyota pick-up.

They also purchased the Isuzu Axiom and the Isuzu pick-up design.

They are using a gas engine and a diesel engine, both from Mitsubishi.

You gotta give them a point or two for going after a successful model and re-making it.

A professor ones told me... Be innovative, but if you have to mimic someone mimic the best. And that's what they are doing.

I seriously doubt anybody is doing/using the third gen 4R just yet. Companies are careful to keep their recent models in store for a while.

Mitsubishi sold their first Montero/Pajero line to Hyunday only after 2 consecutive lines were built.

General motors did make a corolla sibling. It was called Chevy Nova in the 80's but that was a concurrent event. Same as next Corolla and Geo prizm, or the Geo metro and Suzuki Swift.
Montero/Dodge Raider, Chevrolet Tracker/Suzuki Sidekick, etc.

Those were twins in time, which is a little different. What we see now is several chinese companies buying those old blueprints, tweaking few parts and selling them as brand new models.

What I consider not too appealing is the very small HP/tq engine.
Anyway... Just sharing in case somebody is reading.

I agree about the generation. It was unclear to me from the pictures. The corolla and the prism were made at the SAME factory and sold to both manufacturers (GM and Toyota)- I believe it was the Toyota factory. I also don't believe these people are capable of manufacturing so many diverse models on their own in their own factory. I think they outsource.

Think about it, they made the damn VW Beetle in Mexico up until like 10 years ago even though it hasn't been available here since the 1970's!

FYI, the last VW Beetle rolled off the VW assembly line at Puebla, Mexico on July 30, 2003. That plant supplied the Mexican market.
The last plant (Emden, Germany) that supplied the VW Beetle to the USA ceased production in 1978.

At the time the VW ceased production in 2003, VW had built a total of 21,529,480 Beetles.

OK, I can figure out it must be a 4 cyl and about 2.2 liters big, but how does 78 ml / kw translate to HP and torque?

I mean we don't go around and say "How much ml / kw does your engine have?". Anyone know a conversion to maybe HP?

one horsepower is equal to approximately 745.6999 watts

78 kw= 78000 watts
-->78000watts /745.6999watts per 1 hp= 104.599719 hp

The SI unit for power is actually the Watt, not Horsepower. They are actually more correct for presenting the data in those units.
