Hi AZ.. I'm up here for the weekend and want to explore Sedona..
Any recommendations on easy trails? Can I do broken Arrow on stock suspension?

Do I need coordinates or is it easy to find.

I have not done that one yet, it is on the bucket list! I do have a book of trails and it says;

"Rating: Difficult: This is a real 4-wheel-drive trail, although the ledges are manageable with careful tire placement. By far the toughest spot is "The Steps". They require very high ground clearance. The most aggressive stock SUVs can do them, but most stock vehicles will bottom out, so skid plates are recommended. Trail is very narrow and backing is sometimes required to pass. Not recommended for extra wide and extra long vehicles."

Like I said, I do want to do that trail, but I was waiting until I finished fixing my Runner before I went wheeling. It may not be until march before I can hit a trail.

Here is how to get there:

From the roundabout at the intersection of Hwy 89A and 179'in Sedona, drive south 1.4 miles on 179 to Morgan Rd roundabout. Head east on paved Morgan Rd 0.5 miles, then continue straight on dirt road to the Broken Arrow trail.

Looks like a fun one!
 
No, I'm still new to wheeling. I've been a navigator for most of my wheeling time. Picking the lines for a driver. The worst one I've been on was Smith Mesa, west of Chino Valley. It was raining at the time, so the bad road was mud.
 
[MENTION=105072]MJT4R[/MENTION] Sadly I was too concerned that I would not clear the beginning of soldier's pass.. If i had at least 2" i would have gone through with it.. but I contemplated for a while and decided against it... :/

However, I went to the "devil's bridge" area and had some minor off roading fun there and took the hike up there.. Holy cow man,, you guys have a beautiful country out there... I would totally move to AZ if it wasn't for my family down here.

I live in the Valley, and desided to do the I17 to Seven Springs off of Table Mesa Rd trail and had a blast doing it! Great views and beautiful country just north of Phoenix.

What brought you to Sedona? Was it just you, or the whole family?

My buddy lives in Prescott , i go up to visit him one in a great while.. We went to Sedona for the day.
 
Well, I'm glad you guys had a good time. Maybe next time your here, we can all go out and have a day of wheeling, and do lunch or something.

Which gen do you own?
 
I own a 1996, 3rd gen. I love it! Just picked it up before Christmas. I've owned Toyotas before, but not a truck or 4runner. I always wanted either, but the runner was more practicle for my uses. I wanted the 3.4, as I've heard nothing but good things about it. Don't get me wrong, I love the 22re, but the power a 3.4l has is much better! I love the stock clearance it has! I've been more places in this truck in the last month than any other truck I've owned! I just wish I would have told the wife to deal with me getting a truck sooner. I'll never go back!

We wimped out and stayed at Little America in Flagstaff. Kinda like camping - large grassy area, a wooded hiking area beyhond and a pair of cement lined ponds.

Not Sure if anyone is checking this one but I now live in Sedona. I have been on Soldiers Pass with my 99 and it did just fine. I recently found some more trails northwest of Sedona by all the ruins. I'm still going back and forth about Broken Arrow. My goal is to do 1 trail a week and really learn the area so if anyone comes to Sedona send me a PM! Would be great to get some Toyotas out here, it is all Jeeps for the most part.
