Sell or Part out???

My wife hit a calf with our 97' 4wd SR5 4Runner recently. Owner of the calf claimed responsibility and his farm/ranch insurance company called it totaled. I have yet to get the salvage title for it, but I've been driving it ever since. The damage is only cosmetic, it really just needs a fender IMO. They body shop went to town with quoting factory parts and a new $1500 Shrockworks bumper, which is perfectly straight and undamaged.

I'm looking to find out if it is worth considerably more in parts than it is a perfectly good daily driver/off road rig. I'm a mechanic, so striping it would only be a matter of my free time, not if I can do it or not. Though I value my free time greatly, and I'd really hate to part out such a nice 3rd gen. What do you guys think?

Done within last year (less than 7K miles):
Timing belt and water pump (Toyota parts)
Radiator hoses and thermostat (Toyota parts)
Heater hoses and heater control valve (Gates parts)
Radiator and cap (Toyota parts)
Transmission cooler (bypassed radiator)
Belts (Gates brand)
Plugs and wires (NGK parts)
Royal Purple in diffs and transfer case
Trans fluid flushed with BG machine (no additives, just Toyota fluid)
Mobil 1 10w30 oil change (on it's 3rd one)
Air filter (Toyota)
Fuel filter (Toyota)
Sway bar end links and bushings (Moog and Energy Suspension)
Inner CV Joints rebuilt (Beck Arnley boots and Redline grease)
Lower ball joints (Toyota)

I'm sure there is some stuff I did that I'm missing (the sunroof didn't get in any of the pics BTW), but you get the picture. It was a super clean and solid daily driver for my wife, that unfortunately will have a salvage title to it. The driver's side half moon leaks a little oil, other than that it is fluid tight. The frame was checked and confirmed to be undamaged and straight. It is a rust free Texas 4Runner with a hail damaged hood and a jacked-up fender. What do you guys think it would sell for? What do you think I could get out of it in parts?

I've had cars totaled but I just took the cash and they left the title as clean. Can't you just do that? You should get a nice fat check. New fender for a few hundred and do whatever you want after.

In most states they notify the DMV that it has been totaled. Then next time you go to do your registration, they won't let you renew it until you turn in old title and get it retitled as salvage or rebuilt.

That is correct, we just haven't gotten around to it yet. It will need a salvage title before being registered again.
 
Why even get rid of it? Sounds like a dedicated wheeler now

I'd buy that front bumper in a heartbeat.

Idk seems like a good one for longer distance off road destinations. Or just donate to me idc ;) haha

I'd take my salvage title and sit my wife right back in the driver's seat. Why is this even a question for you? Does your wife want a different car?
 
I know you can get fenders at a salvage yard for as low as 30 bucks. But again, though others have said, I will gladly come buy that if you decide to sell, cash in hand.
 
Mine is a salvage title and it's my dd. Do you or your wife hate not having a clean title?

I vote jeep it add her dd and put the insurance check into whatever you want.

Whatever you do don't part it out. It's way too nice.
 
To add to my earlier statement, it's very clean, but being a 97 semi-low optioned SR5, the value in parts really isn't there, it's worth much more complete.
 
Thanks for all the positive feedback. I was afraid it would be hard to sell with a salvage title, since I have never dealt with that before.

Keeping it isn't an option unfortunately. I made a deal with my wife in regards to her getting a new Trail Premium and me getting the FJ.

What would this be worth on here? I try to avoid CL if possible, so it would be nice if I could sell it to a forum member.
