Did you just pull out that little compartment in the center console or are you hiding the electronics somewhere else? (cant remember if the 890 are a 2 piece setup)

Not only is it alive but it's the T4ROTM I don't remember ever seeing this one before - an oldie but definitely a goodie.

Seriously though, I saw a 9/11 documentary recently and it was very inspiring watching what those firemen went through that day - many of them giving up their lives to save others. So FWIW I've decided to pick moschi as T4ROTM to show my appreciation. Not sure if he's even still on this board or not - but thanks for all you and your fellow firemen/paremedics do to help out those in dire straights.

Good looking Runner. The only other rescue runners I have seen are on Youtube. I wish our dept would invest in a yota med unit, but for now we're stuck with an excursion. What kind of hydraulic tools do you guys use? Looks like Amycus, but I could be wrong.

I noticed that you call it a "Rescue Edition" 4Runner. Is there really such a thing? It is like a 'heavy duty' version or something?

By the way, the lighting setup is AWESOME! How can you run blue lights, though? I know each state has different rules regarding lighting and emergency vehicles, but blue is typically reserved for law enforcement vehicles only. Even in states that allow blue for other than law enforcement vehicles (NY, PA, NJ, etc.) often limit who can use red AND blue together.

Here in VA, police (as well as sheriff's deputies, park rangers, etc.) must use blue lights - but it can be in conjunction with red or clear lights. Rescue squads, fire departments and ambulances must use red or red & clear lights. Just about anyone can use amber lights - but they must only face to the rear. Blue is reserved for law enforcement only.

Security, utility and tow vehicles can use amber lights that face in every direction, though.

What you said is true. However, I also heard that new police departments are not allowed to use red (as that is supposed to be only for Fire/rescue). When I was with Manassas City Polcie there was some debate about whether Prince William Police had to get rid of their red lights on their new cars. But there was also something abotu being grandfathered in.

On a side note, in Hawaii the Honolulu PD allows officers to use their POV's as their patrol cars. The department pays for the installation of all the equipment, and the officers get a stipend for the cost of maintenance. There were a TON of 4runners that were made into patrol cars.
