Sequoia split spoke wheels question

Ok guys I can't seem to find what I'm looking for by searching and for some reason all of the pics I try to look at on the forum will not show up. They just have a little red x in the top left corner where the pic should be.

Any way. I want a set of the gray 17" Sequoia split spoke wheels but I was curious if the offset or backspacing or whatever is different then the stock 03sport edition wheels? I really like the split spokes but I want something that sticks out a little bit farther for a slightly wider stance as well so I figured it would be worth asking and then I can decide to go split spoke or after market.

I searched on rockauto.com and this is what I found out.
Sequoia=15mm offset
4runner=30mm offset

Ok thanks, so I'm not good with the offset numbers but Seems to me that they would stick out a little farther right?
 
I had a set of these on my truck and don't really remember any discernable difference in offset. You can see pictures of them in the first post of my build thread (link in signature). Hope that helps. Good luck.
 
I had looked at those as well, thought I read they were a +15 offset. In comparo, my SR5 rims are +25 offset so wasn't a huge change.

Running this wheel on both of my 4th gens. See my album for more pictures. they do stick out a very tiny bit more but you cannot tell.
 
Yeah on second thought, after looking back at some old pics, there may actually be slightly more offset on them. I never really took any great shots at good enough angles to compare though.
 
Thanks for all the input. I think these will look great with the gray clading. I guess worst case if I want to push them out a little more I can run spacers, not real sure about those but it looks like alot of folks on here run them with no problems so.

Got them on and they do stick out just a tad more. it was enough to notice but not enough to "fill" the fenders. I think it is a fast improvement. This is the wheel I think these should have had from the factory. What do you guys think? 1st pic is before, 2nd is after wheels and other mods.

Subsequently I will be listing my sport edition wheels in the classified section if anyone is interested. They look like @$$ and will need to be sanded/painted or powdercoated.

Wow, significant improvement! Makes me miss mine a little. I didn't have the gunmetal ones though. They look so much better.

You can always get some spacers if you want additional offset.

I have been thinking about it but for the time being I am satisfied. I am going to start swapping out all the blown speakers and try to get the AUX plug for the actory radio now.
 
Thats what the tire guys said when I asked them but they DEF stickout a slight bit more, maybe 1/4". I didn't take any measurments but thats just from eyeballing it with the fenders and from thefront bumper so it may just be me haha
 
That is a major improvement, for sure! I also have an '03 Sport and my original wheels are completely trashed after 99,000 miles. When I bought the truck last month, I was picturing these exact Sequoia Limited wheels on it in the future, ha ha. I think the gunmetal looks good with the grey cladding, which my silver '03 also has.

One other note about the offset: Are the 4Runner Sport wheels the same width as the Sequoia/Tundra wheels? The reason I ask is that the offset is calculated from the center line of the wheel to the hub surface, unlike backspacing, which is measured from the inside edge of the wheel to the hub surface. So a wheel that is 1/2" wider but with the exact same offset would only poke out 1/4" further towards the outside. I'm thinking a difference in wheel width may explain your results.

And thanks to this thread, I am no longer seriously considering FJ or 5th gen wheels, unless I come across a set pretty cheap. :thumb3:

The sequoias are 7.5(printed on the back), the sport editions are harder to make out but they appear to be 7.5 as well. So the mystery continues.

Anyway Glad I could help contribute something to someone. Good luck with your search. Mine popped up on craigslist and I picked them up for $200. They are in really good shape to.

Well, I'm stumped on the whole offset thing. They look great to me, so that's all that matters, I guess.

$200 dollars is a steal for those wheels, btw. Great find!
 
Every Toyota 6x 5.5 wheel made roughly in the past decade is 7.5... Toyota doesn't make anything wider, even for the TRD Tundra wheels... its so frustrating because we have some nice wheels, like the split spoke Sequioas :(
 
Figured I'd sell them. I actually listed them in the classifieds section. If no one wants them I'll sand them and paint them then either keep them or try to sell them for more $$$
