Shaking in drive while stopped.

I recently purchased a ,97 4runner with 150,000 miles on it. I had it about 3 months and noticed it was driving a little funny , took it to mechanic and found out I had a leaking head gasket. I also needed to get timing done and he did both for a good deal. I got the car back a couple days ago and it's shaking in drive but not during acceleration only while I;m stopped at a light or something. I also got check engine light, it went away for a day then came back now i'm worried. I am going to take it back to the mechanic tomorrow but i'm just wondering what it could be. Oh yeah and it doesn't really vibrate in park, any info helps thanks.

Motor mount at best. Otherwise you have a misfire causing uneven firing and a vibration.

Could be that you're idling too low, maybe try cleaning the IAC and throttle body since it's free and good maintenance anyways.

Agreed sir. To check motor mounts, have a helper in the seat while you observe engine flex. Apply hard break pressure and put load on the mounts by giving the engine about 2000-2500 RPM. You should see slight movement. Hear is the part to watch, allow engine to resume normal idle and shift to reverse and give the same RPM. Again there should only be a slight amount of flex. I don't have a measurement for the amount of flex, but you'll know when you see it. The motor will just appear to be loose and shakey.

I just did my IAC last week. Cake. What RPM are you idling at?
