is it me, or do others feel the same.

so ive been driving my F150 for the past 10yrs. it runs like a top, but i needed a 4WD and just wanted something new. After lusting a GX470, then a used 4th, then used 5th gen, i got really fortunate and picked up a left over 2014 SR5, and loving it.

so the woman i am related to by marriage has a 2008 convertible coup that i very rarely even touch. she loves this car. yet she sees the runner and declares she doesnt know if she likes it or not. but since the initial viewing, she takes it at every turn. if i leave it, when i come home its gone. on weekends if i aint watching, i look up and its gone, her car is still parked there.

so, am i wrong, or the only one, who feels that slight ting of jealousy and anx'd when when the wife has the T4R and i dont? Do you guys also feel this way? if/whenever i took her car, once a month or so, to the store, gone for 15 min, i got a comment or three, but she is in my beloved runner all this week...just because i wanted to drive my pick up again...

someone tell me how wrong i am so i can get over this...or... :couch2:

My wife has her car, I have mine. She drives hers, I drive mine.

It's the natural order of things and the way it was meant to be.

LOL, I was worried about this too. We even sold HER Tacoma to help fund the 4Runner. However my wife graciously took my 2005 RAV4 as "her" car and let me use the 4Runner. Awesome woman.
 
I got my wife a smoooth Lexus RX450h that keeps her happy. It's more luxurious than the truck like runner. She is height challenged and constantly complains about climbing up into my Trail. I refuse to put running boards on it! So far problem avoided. : )
 
Congratulations on one the best thread titles ever. And whenever someone uses the search (I know, they never do) for "green eyes" your thread will show up.

As for your "problem" -- you just need to become a two 4Runner family. Twice the fun, and everyone's happy.
 
Am I jealous? yes, but I knew the purchase was for her since she carries around with my 2 little ones most of the time.

I say you give your wife an option, sell her car and get another 4r. I knew I would do it if I could part with my truck and afford a second 4R
 
Lift, armor, tires... That takes care of it for my wife! She only drives mine if absolutely necessary... Which means almost never. Lol.

However, there is something incredibly hot about a good looking lady in a nicely modded rig...

I bought a vehicle that my wife likes better. Simple. She only drives my 4runner if I have a bit too much when we dine out. She is an excellent designated driver.
 
The future Mrs, does the same thing. It started a couple of months back when I took her car in for service while she was at work. It was going to take a while, so I left her my 4Runner, while I had her's worked on (Nissan Juke). I travel for work often so my 4Runner sits in the garage most of the time, so I thought. I caught her doing it too, as the odometer jumped a couple hundred miles sitting in the garage for a week. Now she says she wants a 4Runner as her next car. At least it will be easy for me to work on both 4runners when they need service.

Buy your car and say "This is my car. MINE. Don't touch it.".

I love my wife to the ends of the earth but she drives like a pissed off Banshee and has more door dings in her two year old car than Hillary Clinton.

She ain't touching my new 4Runner.

Yes OP, I to share your angst. I feel vulnerable whenever I'm at home and my 4Runner isn't.

My fiancée has a Nissan Altima and basically just uses it for back and forth to work. 4Runner does everything else.

Having said that, I have 2 options next spring. I either buy the soon to be Mrs a Lexus GX or perhaps another 4Runner Limited or, hand over the keys to my beautiful shoreline blue to my fiancée and I buy something more sensible like a gently used Lexus ES (very steep discounts on 2 year old models with 20-30k miles). I really don't want to get a car but it just seems silly to have 2 behemoths in the driveway.

I don't know what to do??!!?!?!?
 
My wife drives a 07 CRV that' was in immaculate condition when we bought it years and years ago. Well all the commutes to college and work added a bunch of miles on it. It's starting to show...if I didn't detail it she would never clean it. She claims she's going to drive my BLACK TRD PRO to work when it arrives. I LAUGHED AT HER FACE. I'm going to lift it so high off the ground she wouldn't even want to drive it. I paid for it and whatever is in the garage is mine so don't touch it! Lol :guitar3::guitar3::guitar3:

After she curbed one of my wheels on my STI, that was it... I'll drive lol

Being a detailer and PDR technician, I plan to keep my TRD PRO immaculate.

Flip the story around at my house. The 4 runner is totally my wifes car, bought for her exclusively. I have my cars BUT I have been hijacking hers because it is so much fun to drive. I ask her if shes going anywhere and if not I take it. This has turned into our car. She doesnt mind at all because she sees how happy it makes me. Worst case senario if Im gone with it she takes her old car the Ml350. Not the next couple weeks though since her and her sister took off for Florida in it yesterday. Worse than taking the Runner they took our dog. Thats brutal no wife, no dog and no 4runner. Just to make this story longer, today I'm going to put a rebuilt steering rack in my Lexus Ls400. It has been sitting on the shelf for 9 years since I purchased it. Talk about avoiding work. Its got to the point of atf running out of the boot so I shut it down last week. Im thinking about swapping out the ML for a sweet gen 4 with V8. Problem is those sell for twice what I can get for the Mercedes mistake and I havent paid for the new runner yet.

The solution is to ask wifey what (within reason) she wants to drive and get it. Her decision, her car. It works.

Mine goes for "cute", and would probably have picked a Kia Soul, or a Mini Cooper, or an IS300 Convert. I said "get what you want", but please pick from Toyota or Honda. So it's an Accord Coupe. Fantastic car which feels like a coffin to me.

As much as my wife likes the ride in mine she has yet to get behind the wheel. She just plain refuses. It may be she is afraid she'll want one of her own, but I don't know. She has her Camry and an 07 Sierra to alternate between so I just keep being thankful she doesn't want to drive the Whale. Lol.

Dude I told my wire the same thing. Pick whatever you want as long as its a Toyota or Honda. She took a 4 Runner.
 
how far away is your kitchen that she needs a car to get there??????:hiding:
