Shock/coil swap question

My '11 LE X-REAS is blown. I'm going to have the X-REAS pulled out and put in Bilstein 5100s. A friend just put 5100s on his '15 Trail and didn't like the ride. He pulled them off (along with the coils) and will sell them to me at a reasonable price. Questions:
- Are the 5100s from a '15 TE the same as the 5100s for an '11 LE?

- Should I use the TE coils (they are 3 years newer and have 40K miles on them) or stick with my original coils (120K miles on them)? I'm not sure about size differences.

- This seems like an easy swap. Is there anything I'm missing?

Thanks,
Glenn

Will you be lifting it at all?

Timely question. Yesterday I had my XREAS removed, and replaced with 5100s all around. Used the original coils, and adjusted the front to have the truck leveled. Ride improved; but then, my right front shock was leaking (100K miles), and I didn't want to go through the expense of repairing XREAS. It's only been 24 hrs, but so far, absolutely no regrets. Truck handles well. If anything, the ride is a little smoother on gravel washboard roads. I did have TORC Motorsports in Omaha do the work. Didn't feel like doing it myself, but I don't think it's too hard. I'll try to post a picture later. PM me if you want any further details.

The 5100s are the same for all 5th gens. You might want to swap springs if you are going to lift or add any armor. If you want to keep it stock height, just use the TE coils since they are newer. You will want a spring compressor to mount the coils on the front shocks.

I'm not lifting, but I will set the fronts a .85 to level the front end. The friend I am buying from has a mechanic that will do the swap for a good price.

Dave - I'm glad to hear you are happy with the results. I liked my X-REAS until it went kablooie.

Not the best picture, but it may give you an idea.

Cheers,
dave
