Shocks... yet another question

My 99 4x4 has 62K miles on it now and not that I'm having any real problems with the shocks but I was thinking of something a little stiffer on the rear.

I frequently tow a 2000 pound boat during the summer months and I've noticed the tail end sitting down a bit more than I would expect. I don't do any off roading, unless the boat launch ramp counts

My initial thought was Bilstein but I want to keep the softer OEM ride. I see Monroe makes a Sensa-Trac and even a Load Adjusting variation of the Sensa-Trac.

Does anyone else have any experience in this area and can make a recommendation?

not sure if this is ideal for your situation, but i think it is. certainly not ideal for off road, but......


performance products sells the air bag suspension (spring kits) for relatively cheap money. you can also get a regulator that auto-inflate/deflates for you. check it out. may be what you want.

Good thought but I think the air suspension might be overkill. The tounge weight of the trailer is under 200 pounds.

I'd just like to see the ride level out a bit and If anyone has had similar experience with shock replacement I'd love to hear what worked and what didn't.

i run the hd billies. stiffer than stock though. many people also like the ome's. no experience with them, but many people over on 4x4wire and yotatech like them.

I've been running them for over a year now. I installed them front and rear, along with moog dual rate rear springs, a crank on the tor bars and poly bushings every where.
It runns way tighter in the corners, sits a bit higher, a bit rougher but not too bad, the back end sits normal to the front now, and lite towing the whole thing feels great.
I like the KYB mono max.
