Should I Paint My Wheels?

After seeing the T4ROTM and contimplating since day one of buying my 4runner.... I was thinking of painting my wheels all black. I'm not a huge fan of the "checkered flag" look my wheels have. I didn't have a choice in wheels-the dealer put em on to sell it I guess, I just had say in the lift and tires around them. I included pictures, let me know what you think.

I think all black looks awesome - especially flat black! :bigok: But it depends on what you want to do. If you want to keep it more of a stylish black and less of a rugged look, then I would stick with shiny black.
I think I'm going to get flat black wheels once I start this new job and get some flow goin.
Your 4R is looking good though! I like it a lot! :bigok:

Yeah all black rims would look good, you need to get some blacked out headlights too!

I want the headlights and I am also going to VHT my tails. I'm thinking of doing the headlights myself, and getting rid of the orange reflector inside the headlight... i know i know, it's illegal-but are cops really looking for reflectors?

I would suggest having them stripped and powder coated...especially around the outer edge, paint won't last long. I had mine powder coated flat black and it was only 70 bucks a wheel for stripping and powder coat. That included mounting and balancing. Nothing worse than peeling paint on a nice set of wheels.

I actually kind of like the look of your wheels w/ the all black lifted t4r. I powder coated my stock wheels flat black and have painted the crossbar on my front grill flat black. I also had to paint the center caps of the wheels flat black. If you do paint, make sure and prep prep prep, then use a good primer before applying paint and clear. I'm now thinking about painting the chrome piece above the license plate flat black...If I can just figure out how to get it off.

I can't afford a custom car so I'm doing what I can do make my 4runner stand out from the crowd. Out here they are a dime a dozen... So far, w/ what i've done i've rec'd numerous "jealous" comments.
