Shovels on the stock rack

Anyone found a cheap inexpensive way to mount a shovel on the side of the roof rack? I know you could have one held down with bungee cords but that's not very secure at high speeds etc. Let me hear what y'all got.

For sake of clarification...Are you referring to the stock roof rack? I can't really help you there, but there are many options for aftermarket roof rack attachments. Shovels / Axes / High Lift jacks. It's possible that with a little engineering you could adapt a set made for say "Gobi" rack to fit the stock rack.

I just have 2 u-bolts attached to rail, and then a second plate, and some wingnuts on top of the shovel.

Where did you go to get yours? Can I just get this stuff at Homedepot?

Yep, for the high price of ~$4.50. IIRC I bought 4 2.5" UBolts and used 2 full ones, and the plates from the other 2. Then some wingnuts that fit.
