It's an inch wider. The ride will be a little bit stiff, but it shouldn't be too bad.

Could you please explain how it's an inch wider? By my calculations, 275mm minus 265mm equals 10mm difference in width (unless I calculated wrong somehow).

Your FJ (w/ stock wheels, lol) looks awesome. I love the iceberg color. A friend of mine has the iceberg trail team FJ and I'm simply in love w/ that truck. You're a fortunate dude having both vehicles.

I just called a different tire place than I visited this morning to confirm or deny the information I was given. The difference between a 265 and a 275 tires is 10mm just over 3/8 of an inch. Is that worth the stiffer ride? Is that all it would be with a "E" rated tire as opposed to a "C" rated tire? Will turning radius change?

what size tires were on your fj rims? 305s? i have a brand new fj set and wondering to use that or try some other rims on my future 4r
Yes, they are snow rated and have the snowflake emblem . Probably better for you to get the C rated tires if your not going to ever go serious offroading. The C rated are 6 ply and the E-rated are 10 ply and a heavier/stiffer/stronger tire.

This is my problem. I have the money to spend and want to have something installed ASAP. I like the wider 275 (E) tire but, when I went into three different places to purchase them today, I was advised against it. I was advised to get the 265 (C) tire. I was told I would not notice a difference once they were installed. I am not so sure.
Now, I don't know what to do. And since I am not getting any kind of credit for my new tires, I want to make sure that I make the right decision. Somebody help me get off the fence now one way or the other.
What kind of 4runner do you have? where do you live? Are you going to go offroad,on rocky trails?in mud? on beaches?FYI..... All Terrain tires are noisier and don't get as good gas mileage.Lose about 1-2mpg with my BFG AT's. I'm averaging around 17.5 -18 mpg but I have a lead foot.
I would go to a place that will give you credit for your new tires and match Tireracks prices....try to call around to local tire chain stores. They should give you at least $50 a piece. I guess it depends where you live.They do around Dallas here.

I have a 2010 4Runner TE (Charcoal). I won't be doing any off-roading. I might be pulling a boat that weighs in at 4950 pounds though.
I just don't like the look of the stock tires on the thing. They look like car tires. Don't care about losing a gallon or two. Just wanted it to look cooler. Please help me get off the fence on this one.
7harper, are you running 265 or 275 BFGs?
P.S. I have called every different tire dealer in MD and none offer a tire trade-in (Mr. Tire, Merchant Tires, Firestone Tires, GoodYear, NTB). And, none of them will match Tireracks prices.

I wish LWN was still around. I sent him a PM and he hasn't responded. He has the BFG 275s and he claims there is no rubbing but, that is on pavement. I don't know if there would be rubbing if you took it offroad.
Discount Tire has always matched prices for me and also offer a buyback. But you will get more money if you sell them on craigslist! I got $400 for my stock F150 tires from a guy who bought them on craigslist.

I thought you could too. I haven't heard much on here about the Firestone Destination ATs, so I was just wondering what people thought about them. They look like the best ones to fit my needs.

I was looking at and read a review about these. They don't have as much of an aggressive tread as the BFGs. I was also looking on the Firestone website to look at their load rating and it indicated "R". Which is clearly wrong since there is no "R" rating. I am not sure if they are "E" or "C" in the 275. Anyone know?
