Sliders will be one of my next projects. Just gotta get a little time so i can actually build them. Anybody got some design tips or anything they would like to see done with sliders. I have a plethora of tools so PM me your ideas and i will see what i can make of them.
 
Stubs sliders bed lined. The diamond plate is bolted on with holes set in by Richard. The plate keeps the rocks and salty slush off the side of the rig. Let me know what you think.

Most companies use chinese steel, even their DOM is chinese. all of BAMF's steel are 100% USA steel, thats why it cost more. BAMF hot roll steel sliders are stronger than any chinese dom sliders on the market.

i think most people know what company uses chinese steel so im not gonna name names.

Don't be fooled by that statement. There's a reason hot rolled steel is used, and that's because it's cheaper then DOM. Hot rolled steel is the exact same thing as HREW tubing (hot rolled electric welded). You heat a flat piece of steel to about 1700 degrees which will achieve the recrystallization temperature, and then form it to a shape. When the steel cools off it will shrink slightly; giving less control on the size and shape of the finished product when compared to cold rolled. In other words you have a welded seam rather than a seamless tube, and a wide control range. This is all speculation though since you can't compare any tubing unless you know the type of tubing being used.

Also, cold rolled or DOM will increase the yield and tensile strengths over hot rolled (HREW). All cold rolled products provide a superior surface finish, and are superior in tolerance, concentricity, and straightness when compared to hot rolled.

I have trail gear sliders. $180 can't beat that. However, Ineeded ti cut them of in order to fix my rocker pannel, and I noticed after cutting them of that water came out of the tube that mounts to the frame. And of course the frame area had to be sanded to lay down a nice weld. And on that around there was rust, on the frame that is ...... Any opinions on this ?

And ofcourse I had to cut them of also because they got welded straight to the frame without a plate. Now that I have the plates and gusset I'll be fixing it properly.

I've got 4xInnovation sliders on my truck. However, I customized mine. I had 4xInnovations angle the center tubes. Then I added diamond plating to fill in the openings. I mounted them to the truck horizontally. They work great.

I really like the way that looks. Do you have any drain holes in there? I could see water/rain, snow & slush getting trapped on top & causing rust & wet/dirty pants going to work.

Thanks. Yes i put 6 half inch holes in each flat section. It drains well unless the snow is really wet and heavy.

Would I install my sliders higher on the frame if the body were lifted 1"?

I think so, but don’t take my word for it in case I’m wrong haha. But I believe lifting the body would have a higher gap between the sliders and body obviously so if you’re planning on doing a BL later then maybe go a little tighter to the body than normal. I’ve also heard that even without a BL some of the sliders are already pretty tight to the body and some people have flattened that pinch weld. I would mock it up and see what it looks like to get an idea. You do want some distance from the body due to body flex while off-roading but I’m not sure what a good minimum would be, I think eimkeith has a write up on his website for his rear bumper about that which should be similar for sliders but maybe a little less gap.

I initially had my sliders right under the body and it contacted the pinch weld when the body would flex. I just put a 1" body lift on and it seems perfect. I was worried they would be too far underneath, but I am pretty happy with where they are located!

That is correct, you'll get some more room. I would hold off on installing the sliders and do the body lift first so you're not guessing and getting the measurements wrong. In general a body lift helps a ton with installing sliders anyways and gives you way more room to work with, or at least that's how I saw it while installing mine. I have to fab my own legs on my 4xI sliders just for them to clear
If you want a body lift do it first and foremost so you don't have to re-do/re-purchase anything down the line, like bumpers for example

I did a 1" body lift for exactly this reason - mounting sliders higher on the frame.
 
Rock Slider Welding (Denver)

Is there anyone in the Denver area who might be willing to weld my rock sliders on? Also want to weld in my panhard correct kit & LCA mount protectors. Working on saving up for a welder, but don't think it's going to happen before this wheeling season.

I'd be willing to look at what all ur wanting done, and get everything done provided we come to equally beneficial agreement, depending on where in denver im 1.5ish away from u if u cant find someone closer PM me
