Shrockworks appears to be out of business.

Guess not. I'm thinking of having them removed.
They were just for looks anyhow now they look even worse! sadly i think they welded so that gonna be another problem.

I believe i had these installed in 2011. I should have had them powdercoated. The place i had them prepped/coated and installed didn't do a good job. The Rhino coating apparently wasn't the real thing. I'm in NY so that don't help either. I have a jet ski and that involves salt water- again not helping.

i'm sure than anywhere else in the country it would not be too expensive to have them removed, stripped have the rusted pieces cut out and re installed but then again it might be even cheaper (if i had a mind to) just to get new ones and then powder coat.

Small pinholes in a hard 'shell' coating like that + road salt is a recipe for disaster. The same thing can happen on the frame if you do 'undercoating' treatments wrong...

Small pinholes eh? I never thought of that. Road salt.... I'm in NY so i know that is probably a big part of the problem. I'll bet the coating was not applied properly- or evenly because some part of the Bars are perfect and some- well you know.

As for the Frame. Yes i have rust and believe it or not i asked for it to be applied before i drove it off the lot.

I'm not sure if i asked for rust proofing or what.

Thanks for the replies!

I'm leading to that... I was thinking to trying to salvage and re install.. but i don't think it would be worth it.

I have some other issues on the truck that need to be addressed but I think that's what i'm gonna do.

Powder Coating good idea?

Thanks again for the link looks like a pretty good site complete with some good videos.

i'll be using them when the time comes.

The time and money spent trying to rescue those, will be an exercise in futility.

Personally, I like powder coating. It looks better and tends to initially hold up better. Alas, if you use them as designed, and live anywhere that rust will be an issue. It's gonna be more of a pain in the ass to maintain.

I know plenty of people who decided to have them sprayed with bedliner instead. Less slippery when trying to "glide" over surfaces, but they're easier to recoat and maintain them.

Some rattle can black is easy to repair when you scrape them against rocks, and it won't form a shell and hold moisture in either.

I think when the time comes i will go the powdercoat route. The bed liner issue has left a bad taste in my mouth. It wont match the rest of the truck, but I'm not going through that again.
Thanks
