Shrockworks Rock Sliders are here for the 5th gen

he said that he's "pretty dang positive" that it will fit the SR5, but that SR5 owners will need to remove the plastic trim piece that runs horizontally under the doors (apparently the TE doesn't have this piece so TE owners won't have to do any sort of modification)

I was just crawling around under my limited today and can confirm that the rocker panel appears to be easily removed with a phillips and 12mm- it is just a bolton panel like bumper trim. Not sure what the finish under the panel is like where it mates up to the door, hopefully it is painted and presentable. Removing this would expose the framerails for direct fitment of sliders. Bottom wheelwells may need to be trimmed down as well.
Once it stops snowing i will pull the rocker off to see what else is required.
SW, Stubbs, AllPro all seem to have an interest but are "out" a bit due to inability to have a rig avail. for fitment. I may make a trip to AP soon.

The look and design are awesome! First SUV, means first attempt at running boards/sliders. I want to keep the look steady on my trail which has me thinking Shrockworks Rock Sliders are the proper choice.

However, will they truly serve as a "step up"??? I'm 210lbs and will not be able to stomach such a purchase if these sliders are going to flex, creak or weaken after every step.

They say they are strong, but my thought is that they are strong against everything but my downward force caused by my "step-up".

You do realize that comparing sliders and running boards is like comparing a 4Runner to a Kia Sorrento, right? Two completely different things. Running boards are meant to aid in people getting in and out of a vehicle. Sliders are for supporting the vehicle's weight while sliding across rocks. I sometimes use it to jack up the truck. You can jump up and down on this with your 210lb frame and it will not even flinch.

Anyway, not sure if it's worth the wait time. I had a local fab guy make one for my Tacoma. I'd rather just have one custom made. Mine was around $400 and it'll probably be cheaper for a 4Runner.

If you remove the rocker skirts, your fender trim is going to look "unfinished" where it normally meets the skirt. I believe that the rockers will be presentable, but you're going to need to do something w/ the fender trim to make it look right, IMO.

Personally, I'd just have the slider sit right below the factory skirt.

Did you get your Rock Rails yet?

No I did'nt get them yet.Supposed to take 1 1/2 -2 months and I ordered them almost a month ago.Mine were the first ordered but the first ones are the prototypes and went on a local Trail Ed.I will update as soon as mine arrive.

Exactly what I told Jim at Shrockworks!Either that or make a aftermarket moulding that fits in place of the original rocker panels.Another option if your a craftsmen is to cut them in half,level with the bottom like BFLAN did.

ABSOLUTELY not an option- that would be a HUGE sacrifice in clearance and my intentions for everything that ends up on this rig is to be functional (in my eyes atleast)

For me sliders are built to:
support the weight of the rig as you slide over something or drop onto it

kick the rear out as you turn around an obstacle

highlift off of, or WCS- winch point post flop

aid in stepping up for those who cant reach(my kid/mother-in-law) IYRC- clear griptape works great on top of sliders for stepping on

Ready to buy a set once i find a vendor that is willing to provide a quality slide that meets my needs. STILL HUNTING

Here is the parts list,some of these on the list are the supports and the inner fender liners for the front and rear bumper covers (TE mudflaps are like another $150 and on another drawing).Also the flares are black and textured compared to the SR5/Limiteds flares,which are smooth and body colored.

Can you post another photo with the door closed? I'd like to get an idea of how the wheel mouldings look when the rocker panel isn't attached.

It might look good with just the TE rocker panels in place!

Thanks...About a 2 inch lift in the front with a Toytec spacer to level it out.

Based on that (as i should have known) rocker trimming it is! Found the BFLAN reference and shots of his work, trimjob looks good and certainly provides a straight shot at the frame.

Shrockworks sliders...They look sweet!!Those are the prototypes on the TE on the website .I called Jim at SW on Monday and he has'nt even started on mine yet and I was the first to order 2 months ago.The tubes/brackets were still at the laser cutters.I'm a fairly patient person but almost asked for my money back a couple of times as they don't get in any big hurry. Once they get the tubes/brackets maybe they'll flow more freely out to the masses.
But don't get in any hurry and they charge your card at the beginning when you order.
Quality is worth waiting for.

On that note,we need more people to order so maybe they can kick it into gear and build them.Call them!
