Shrockworks Rock Sliders are here for the 5th gen

cant wait to see em.... and SW is always slow from what i always here. but quality yes even though i own nothing of SW but i have seen enought videos of there armor being bashed and holding strong
 
Suggestions for the newbie?

Hey guys, I'm new to the CO as well as the 4runner forums. I just purchased a 5th gen, SR5. So far I've got new HD wheels, tires, tint, tek mats, and remote start done but I can't find nerf bars or a bumper push for it (both in black). Performance Wheel and Tire says they don't make them yet. Any suggestions? I would love to post pics but I want to get it completely finished first.
 
Anyone have any input on the powder coating options. Is the textured powder coat intended to provide traction if you are using the sliders as a step? I had a frontier with a SW bumper and it was super smooth. Probably not the best coating for standing on, especially when wet. Maybe bare steel with rhino lining would be a good alternative. Just a thought.
 
The SW sliders stick out pretty far and the angle only seems to compound the problem of interfering with getting in and out of the truck. Sure it can be used as a step, but it's not that much lower than the rocker panel and on a lifted truck the benefit as a step is negated.

Meh. I think I am going to wait and see what Rocky Road Outfitters comes up with.

You put some 3M anti skid tape on the top. You can put it the whole length or just by the doors where a step is needed.We use this same stuff to put on the top of aircraft wings for the emergency exit paths. Sticks at 500+ mph and all kinds of weather.Sticks best on a smooth surface instead of textured.

I have 11 and 13 year daughters that will need the step to get in and out after a 3/2 inch lift.It's great for a lifted truck for access to the roof rack and as a place to jack up the truck with a Hi-Lift jack and adapter. Your regular onboard OEM bottle jack won't work after a lift unless you carry a big block of wood or something.
Does Rocky Road have the sliders in the works? I don't even see them selling them for 4th Gen Runners. I know Demello Offroad was talking about coming out with some.
BFLAN still making them and selling them?Anybody bought from him yet and put them on?

I don't have a time line, no. But the SW just won't fit my specific needs so waiting is all I can do.
 
Rocky road does have sliders in the works, expect a design near the end of the month.

They will be building the supersliders, which is where it is at. They look comparable to Shrockworks and are cheaper.

They are also thinking about a ruggedized roof rack, but would like to know how many people are interested.
 
shrockworks has pics up of the 5G sliders here. they look real nice. i'd love to see a few pics of the RRO sliders from similar angles b/c pics they have now don't show much detail.

I am still making them. Have only made 2 sets, for myself and another guy on the forum. He has them but dont know if he has put them on. If anybody is interested I can make more, just doing it on the side because nobody was making what I wanted.

I wanted to see if any one has found any others or had any fabricated since the last post on this thread. Thanks!

Check out N-fab out of Houston...they show rock rails on their website for the trail edition. They so show nerf bars, but bolt on sliders too. I didn't see a picture, but they have an optional step, so I'm sure they are pretty tucked under the rocker panel.
 
These seem a bit pricey for a bit of tubular steel and welding. Over 500 bucks for the satin black version. I think they are off their rocker... :guitar2:

They have to be strong enough to hold up the vehicle. You could get some cheapo 'nerf bars' for a lot less, but those would probably do more damage if you actually needed to use them.

where are sliders for the limited/sr5! imho, these companies missing out on big market by not including all 4runners.
