Side exhaust mod (for back window lovers)

can you make a sound clip of the exhaust note? like a video or something. i was thinking about getting that thing cut off as well.

Like I said there is hardly even a difference in sound. It might make a little more noise (i mean very litttle) when I am going down a hill in 4th and letting the truck slow itself down. Other than that it isn't even noticeable, besides appearance.

it is the same but slighty louder....I mean slightly louder......

so the part we are talking about is the black part just before the chrome tip correct?

so you can just cut this out and then modify the piping to have the exhaust tip to point out the side then.

seriously thinking about removing this part as i think is looks way tacky.

my wife's brother 1/2 owns a muffler shop so i could get this done at cost for parts only.

Yep, I had it cut off just foward of the "rabbit stuck in the snake's belly", then he bent a short section of pipe and added the tip. There are so many different tips out there to chose from.

You say they. Who is they? Who did this for you? I wonder if Toyota would be willing: probably a job for an exhaust specialist.

I had mine turned out to the side mainly because I hated the way thestock pipe was sticking straight out. I also hated that resontator bulge at the end of it. I didn't change out the muffler, I just had them cut it off behind the resonator, turn out the new pipe and put the tip on. I haven't really had a chance to ride around with the window down, but I shouldn't get any of the smell inside.

I did the same thing! Great huh? I can now drive up a hill without gasing everyone out of the car! It is SO much better!

I had an exhaust shot doing it for me. I seriously doubt you could get Toyota to do it for you. If you go to an exhaust shop, make sure it isn't some Minekie shop or some other chain shop like that. They don't really like doing specialty work.

NoDak, did you end up doing this mod? it sounds like what I'm plannin on doing..
