The side mirror lights turn on only when I hit the unlock button on the key, but is there any way to have them turn on automatically when the door is opened? It would be a nice addition to simply the door light.

I also have a 2015 (TEP). Did you reprogram your lights to stay on for 10 seconds once the door is opened? I wonder if that's normal and I got something different.
It just nice to have the extra lighting when I'm in the dark. I often go to the mountains, and there's no lighting, so when I open the door, close the door, move gear and camping equipment around, go to the back, come to the front, open the door, close it, open it, etc... I just want the extra light, however little it may be.

How can I toggle the side mirror lights? Either with a switch, or when in reverse. It's a little challenging to parallel park close to the curb with tinted windows, so I'm considering adding side-view cameras. It'll be nice to have some illumination with those cameras.

Hi whiteblazer01,
The 'Puddle lamps' are completely managed and operated by the 'Main body ECU compu network'. This is a master processor that has been assigned administrative authority over about 15 to 20 other specialty ECU's e.g. security system, window operation, navigation system, audio system, interior and exterior lighting... etc. so to alter the micro-processing protocols that are involved in that network could very well result in some electrical behaviors that you, nor the dealership can easily reverse.
If this were a hybrid-conventional lighting system (w/ground-side switching) on the truck such as the headlights, backup lights, or foglights, then a simple, straight fwd mod would likely not cause a problem; provided the modifier knew exactly what they were doing, but the puddle lamps are ECU internally controlled! PS:...so easy does it lol!
