Missed this as I was actually opposite side of the highway camping, Tunnel Mills Group camp sites. I want to check out this run but unsure if Rock sliders and skids are needed.

Since I ended up working on Saturday and then volunteering at the river after work and no one responded, I said to hell with it and mowed the lawn and cleaned out the inside of the 4Runner from the last few adventures. Had enough dust and pollen inside to start a new forest.
As far as the trail, you don't need them, but, you would for certain suffer damage without them. Last time through I made good use of the sliders of several occasions.

I did the trail (up the front side) on the way up without rock sliders or aftermarket skids (had 3 inch lift w/ 275 BFG KO2's and factory skids at the time). There were 3 or 4 times where I was sure I was going to hit something though, so I would not try it again (myself) without them. But, there is also a pretty mild dirt road that goes up/down the back side (it is off Fordyce Lake Rd. (FR 85))... I would think a stock 4R should be able to make that road just fine... Below is a picture from that road last year when I made the trip... you can just barely make out the towers on the peak.
Regardless of the path you take, its an awesome view from the top. I highly recommend going.

Made a run up this past Saturday (7/30). Here is the view from the top.
Here's some pics from one of the tougher, off camber spots before the last real hill climb. Once past this part, it's easy sailing.
As for sliders, I guess it depends on the line. Left some powder coating in a few places.

Looks awesome! I definitely need to check this spot out.
I recently moved to Sacramento from SoCal, so if you're ever looking for another member to do a run with i would be stoked to join!
