Signed up with Toyota Owners?

I was wondering how many of you have signed up with Toyota's official Toyota Owners site? As I'm the second owner and am curious about previous records, I thought I'd ask here before I signed up to see how people liked it or if there were any issues?

I signed up just to find any information about mu 4runner when I bought it.Think I might have been back to the site once.

I use it all the time, whenever I do maintenance or repairs on my truck, I log in and document it with the mileage. If I forget when I did something or how many miles the truck had, all I have to do is log in and the information is right there. It's a great site.

I use it for tracking maintenance on both my Sequoia and 4Runner. I pulled up my Sequoia and the entire maintenance history across 4 states I've owned it in was right there. Pretty Cool site. I used it to verify the maintenance history from CARFAX on my 4Runner before I bought it. works well for pre-purchase research too.

Thing is, I'm not sure successor owners can view the same data with a different user id. Maybe they could if I were to provide my user id and password to the new owner when I sold it.

I think if it's based off the VIN, the history will follow the vehicle.

I tried when I first bought my 4Runner. That's how I found out it was first a Canadian vehicle. Toyota CN will not allow previous owner maintenance information released. Privacy issue.

I use it to track my maintenance and also found out that my vehicle originally was in California for a brief time? But yes I use that now instead of my excel spreadsheet to track when I to work on the vehicle.

I also use it. I currently have a 2WD. I plan on upgrading to a 4WD and will be using the documentation when I sell.

That is what happened when I tried to sign up. Called Toyota in US. Found I have a Canadian 4Runner. And can not join the US site. Called Toyota CN and found their system is pretty worthless and can not be joined with a US address.

my 85 4runner is a california truck though , can someone with an 85 try and register there vin on there

I used it to check on my VIN when I bought it (2nd owner)...and there was absolutely nothing on record. I even called my local Toyota dealer buddy and had him check.

I now use it to log every maintenance or service even if I do the work myself. If you have work done at a dealership, it should log automatically to you record...but you have to obviously add the work you do manually.

I also keep a detailed Excel doc on my comp at home where I keep track of absolutely everything I do to my Runner with mileage, cost, & date whether it's a service, part replacement, or simply upgrades I do to the wiring, suspension, goodies, etc...

I'm a bit anal about details :suspicious:

I signed up, but I only get to see the time I went to the dealer for a steering column recall. :-/

I have found the site very useful. The obvious reasons are so Toyota can notify you directly of any recall issues, repairs etc and you are able to easily update your current mailing address.

I have also found that when I was looking at used vehicles (Toyotas obviously), I could enter the VIN and get complete history of any work that was done at the dealership(s). This lets you know right away if there were any warranty issues that would have been addressed by the dealer. (so when I was searching for a used Taco, I was able to tell what had been done about the frame in any vehicle I was considering because that would have been done at a dealership)

Recently, I called Toyota USA about a severe corrosion issue with my 2002 Tacoma. (the rear differential began leaking fluid due to the metal becoming porous as a result of rust) Toyota was under no obligation to help me out but the guy on the phone says, "I see you are a loyal Toyota owner and your Tacoma does not have that many miles ..." He ended up giving me $500.00 toward the repairs of the rear end. No where near the cost but hey, I'll take it.

I don't think he would have given me any money if he didn't see I was into Toyotas enough to register my rigs on their site.

I guess toyota doesn't go back to 85, wont even recognize my vin number and its a california truck
