Sinthethic oil/Sunroof question??

Hello all, Looking at 2 2010 4runners. I looked up the service history on them on the toyota service site & they both said that they had the oil changed with 0W20. Is that synthetic oil? Since both 4 runners say that does that mean that they come from the factory with synthetic oil??

Also both of the 4 runners are pretty much identical except one has leather and running boards (SR5 Premium package) and the other has cloth and no running boards (SR5). Both have sunroofs.

The first one that I test drove the sunroof opened and closed with one touch both ways (didn't have to hold the button) it was a SR5. The second one that I looked at the sunroof I had to hold the button for it to open all the way and then hold it to close all the way (SR5 Premium package). Is this a feature that needs to be switched on to be able to have the one touch open/close?? I would think the one with the premium package would also be one touch??

Factory they come with synthetic oil. I have a Trail premium and my sunroof is hold for a few let it go and it will open. It stops with a few inches and if I hold it again it will open up even more. When I want to close mine I hold it for a few and it will close all the way. Not sure about yours, just letting you know what mine does..
 
I dunno about the auto open/close buttons, but the oil can be either synthetic or dyno oil, the 0W20 is the weight of the oil and is offered either way.

Not sure how important it is to you, but if it is important, just contact the dealership and see what type they used. I know my 4R came with a booklet that the dealership stamped and wrote what oil was used, and only the last 2 changes showed synthetic was used.

Although 0W20 dyno oil may exist, it is going to be extremely difficult to find. 0w20 is pretty much all synthetic and I think Toyota even specifies Synthetic oil for the t4r. But if there was a way for dealerships to save a buck and put in cheaper oil, they would.
 
The sunroofs just need calibrated for the auto open/close. I forgot the procedure to it but I think you have to hold the close button and it will cycle through everything.

Are there any known, common problems or issues with the 2010 4 runners that I should be aware of before I possibly purchase either of these vehicles??

I have a 2001 now & its been great except for the VSC & the ATTRAC malfunctioning and cutting the throttle really bad. Do the 5th generations have problems with that also? I just unplug it when it gets annoying on mine. The one that I drove yesterday did have a slight hesitation the one time when I was turning it around and getting back on the gas.

The only thing that I see so far that I am not liking is the differences in the difficulty of the oil changes between the 3rd gen & the 5th. I guess I would just let the dealership change it for awhile til I get confident enough to do it myself.

Would really appreciate any advice tips/issues that you guys might be aware of with these years. Im looking to make a purchase soon.

I stand corrected! See what happens when I just assume???

You're right, did some reading and learned something! I guess its not possible/feasible for a manufacturer to make a 0 weight dyno oil. I just assumed that it was available, as 5w20 is available in non-synth (like valvoline's premium conventional oil).

The sunroof settings can be programmed to operate the way you want them to. It is all outlined in the owners manual. I would give you a link but I am on my phone. There is actually a pile of customizable settings for your sunroof, door locks, power windows and smart keys. Have fun with your new rig. Cheers.
 
Thank you! That's great to hear! I just found a site that has a 2010 owners manual on it. I will look through it when I get time. I haven't purchased the 4 Runner yet. Still kinda debating which one to buy. This might of just made my choice a little easier. Thanks again for the tip!
 
The 2010 horns suck, some swapped it out for a more normal sounding horn. Search in this forum and you'll find it.

Guess they changed it for 2011, if you care, just thought it was funny myself.

Yeah I think I read that on the complaints page. Didnt realize it was the 2010's though. I heard it was the meeep meeep sound lol. I dont think it really matters though. My old 94 toyota truck had that sound. Yes I hated it but fortunately I dont remember having to use it that much lol. I will definitely test it at the dealership though. Thanks
