I tape or shrink sleeve all my connections - whether soldered or wire nutted.

Is the "slight" alternator whine annoying? I have a wee bit amount, but it isn't noticable when the stereo is at a normal listening volume anyway, so I just dismiss it.

Its a little annoying. Really only a problem switching between stations where you can hear it or for something like talk radio.

I'm going to look into the alternator issue. I have pulled 90% of the stereo cable out of the dash, and I have added a large trap for testing, but I doubt it will help.

I have the Starmate 3 and purchased a two plug 12 volt power port from Canadian Tire and removed the plug, tapping into the power supply from the power plug in the console. I had removed the plastic pieces around the shift to hide the wiring. I have a spare power plug for my GPS, cell phone, whatever. I will take a photo if you would like.

I am thinking about adding 12v power sockets to my 4R. only problem is that I do not know where to tap in a 12v. like youhave mentioned above. "tapping into the power supply from the power plug in the console." Where is the power plug in the console? If you have some pictures of tapping the power supply and finished product of what you have done. please post the picutures. Thanks in advance.
