Anybody have pics of the SCE in the vehicle under the drivers side dash or out of the vehicle? I would prefer in the vehicle under the dash as I am planning to do the VSC mod, but would rather tap the red wire from under the dash thus not having to go through the firewall for a switch. Based on the schematics the red wire on the 3 wire connector at the master brake cylinder, well all 3 of them should run to the SCE which is mounted up and behind the Instrument Panel Junction Block. Thanks in advance.

Congratulations, I assume you just tapped off the fused supply for the SCU and hooked it to a switch?

Thank you. I cut pin 12 red wire on the connector at the SCU marked ABS which was, based on the schematics at the right location. Fished 2 wires to the left side 4 switch panel which I am only using 2, 1 for TRAC OFF (stock) and one for my DRL mod, added a switch and done. I was able to complete this mod in about 15mins and the best part of all is that I did not need to remove any panels and I eliminated having to go through the firewall. The longest part of this mod for me was doing all the research before hand since I have a 2 wheel drive and info is a bit limited.

Thanks TRDCal, I used Excel, Scotch tape, my wife's scrap booking double sided tape, a black sharpie, and a laser printer. Spaced a cell in excel accordingly with text wrap, black fill, and white font, then printed it. Rough cut out then stuck them on the double sided photo tape, placed matte finish scotch tape over to protect and give a plastic look. I then exact cut around the black cell, used the sharpie to black the white edges of the paper after cutting and done.

Yes, just splice a 2 prong on/off switch into the red wire. Once activated you will need to switch back to on and restart your truck to get it to go back to normal. What I do is just flick the switch, see the lights and return the switch to normal and the system will stay disabled until you shut off the truck and restart. This way you won't forget to switch it back to normal when you restart. Technically you could place a momentary switch as all you need to do is momentarily disrupt the circuit and it will stay disabled until restart when it does the self test to make sure everything is working. To test this just unplug the 3 wire connector and this should light the lights and disable the system, plug in after shut down and restart and everything should go back to normal.

Awesome, thanks man! I unplugged the switch and started it up, ABS, VSC, and TRAC all came on, turned it off, plugged it back in, started it again and everything was reset again. I believe what you guys are trying to accomplish is the VSC mod using the stock VSC switch. In order for this to work you need to do the mod then mod the switch, as the stock switch is momentary and you need a switch that will stay on or off. The mod itself is pretty simple and well covered, but here is a link to mod the switch. Hope this helps.

I don't know, I have not done this nor tested it. The switch was being modded for FJ's, but after rereading that post I believe they are trying to make a VSC switch turn off their VSC which needs to be on off. With this mod a momentary switch is all that is needed to disrupt the circuit and in theory should work.

After reading a few threads on this topic, I knew this was a must have mod for me as well.

I stopped at the local dealership and ordered the momentary "TRAC OFF" rocker switch (for $62.50) for my 2007 V6 Sport. The switch arrived this morning, but it wasn't exactly what I had anticipated. The picture on the schematic at Toyota actually read "TRAC OFF" but mine has the 'little slippery tracks with the "OFF" sign'. I was then informed that Toyota no longer makes the "TRAC OFF" rocker, and this is all we have to offer. It's the same part number just a different picture on the front.

Anyway, I'm going to test your theory of plug-n-play to see if this one works with the housing already provided under the dash of the 07 V6 Sport.

I'll let you know as soon as I have some time to test the theory.

Well, I went to hook up the new switch today - only to find out I have a different plug-connector under the dash, at least from what I saw on SSt4r posting in another thread (VSC Off, ATRAC On Mod complete!).

In this shot SSt4r has the blue connector that matches up perfectly to the new switch, where as my plug-connector is black (see below) and will not fit the new switch. Is this a known difference between a V8 Sport versus the V6 Sport?

Here's a shot of mine... and the odd thing is, with a little modification to my factory plug-connector I could make it work. I'm just not sure if my black plug-connector is the actual plug I should be using for this mod, or will I wipe out a dozen fuses if I connect this to the new switch?

Or, can I pull out all the wires from my plug-connector and use a toyota plug repair kit so I can use this (empty) factory, plug-connector housing - which I know will attach to the new switch.

Lastly - If I am able to pull off this mod, will my new switch also light up like the rest of the switches on my dash? I know I ended up with more question than answers today, and I could really use some assistance from some of the electrical geniuses on the forum!

Great point and how the heck did I miss the very first post on that thead?! I read it again and I jumped over to J.A.'s site to get a little more information.

I guess I'm back to jumping the #12 pin connector like everyone else with the V6 Sport. I really want a "lighted switch", though, so I need to research some more on how to achieve that goal as well.

This is my first post on here, I've been lurking and reading for a while now on the 3rd gen forum. I recently upgraded [emoji16][emoji108]to a 04' 4Runner in galactic grey and just did my first mod to my new ride. I have been reading for the past few days different posts regarding the VSC disconnect mod and I honestly can say that I was pretty confused by what all I read and the different methods to achieve basically the same thing. Thanks to this post by Morphious I was able to successfully hookup a switch to turn off VSC, ABS, etc. it's actually super simple and if you've ever wired up a aftermarket stereo then you can do this [emoji106] I took pictures of the parts that I felt weren't explained as clearly in previous posts, and I will be uploading those soon. Thanks to everyone who has previously posted input and done write ups on this topic. I'm super excited to personalize my t4r and post her up here ! If anyone is in Utah valley and knows of any local trails let me know !!
