Skid plates on 2wd 4Runners?

I drive a 4wd 4Runner, but I was wondering if someone with a 2wd 4Runner could tell me if they still come with the factory skid plates underneath. Anyone know?

Yes they do, they have them over the engine and the gas tank, not the transmission like the 4x4.

My 2006 is the same, skidplates front and back, but since no Xfer case, no skidplate there. I was kinda surprised to find skidplates on a 2WD "city hauler" lol. Nice to know they're there though..... :bigok:

I noticed the engine skid plate would rattle when I struck it with my fist, even though I thought I had good bolt torque. So I removed the engine skid plate for now.

I also found that the thin aluminum exhaust heat shields seem prone to rattle.

:iagree: because it was very intermitent it took me nearly 3 months to find it. I kept thinking it was something inside like in the hatch. If someone is having a rattling problem from the rear make sure to look at the exhaust heat shields to safe you some time.
