Slashed Tires

So! some jerk yesterday morning decided "Oh look, a customized truck, let me slash his tires" so now I am stuck with trying to figure out what to do. I am taking the tire to the repair shop today, but I am not very hopeful they will be able to fix it. I have Nitto Trail Grapplers, they have a thick sidewall (which is where he stabbed it), but he stabbed it by the side treads on the sidewall, so I am hoping by some miracle they'll say yeah we can patch it.

But if not what do you guys think I should do. I love the trail grapplers, so I am torn between getting the same tire, or switching to Toyo Open Country A/T's or M/T's. Opinions!?

Without knowing how many miles you have on your tires currently? I say suck it up, and pop for another tire. :driving: :)

Hopefully you have a low deductible comprehension insurance. Nobody is going to repair sidewall damage.

Of course, I can't comprehend why you would have a lifted SUV in NYC?

I got about 7,000 miles on them, barely anything!

That sucks man. What a bunch of BS.

File an insurance claim if you can.

I thought about it but I have $1,000 deductible, they wouldn't cover anything.

I go to the rocks, they don't come to me lol! I live on a beach so a lot of beach mud and dune driving as well.

Why do people have to mess with other people's things?!?!? It infuriates me!

It wasn't just me, this guy went on a slashing spree and slash over 70 tires in the area. Messed up!

There are moving rocks in NYC

Unfortunately, if it's anywhere near the sidewall, they won't be able to fix it.

I hope they catch the a-hole, because that kinda stuff has a tendency to keep happening until someone gets caught.

So much for holiday spirit.

Quoted from a story on Jalopnik...
"The streets of New York, like most of the cities in the Northeast, looks as though it was polished by hand with Thor's own mighty god hammer"
In layman's terms, shitty roads. I'd rather drive something with big tires through the city, had quite a few steering wheel gripping, cuss word yelling moments while driving a car with low profile tires through Manhattan.

I don't know if there's a discount tire around you anywhere, but I get tires from there.

They have a "certificate" that covers ANYTHING. Your ex getting pissed and stabbing them, crawling damage, ANYTHING.

I'd say get them from there next time, and when it happens again, pay to transfer the vert to the new tire.

UPDATE ALL!!!! The police just caught the Bast**d! Of course, he will most likely not be sued because he doesn't have any money to pay for the damages caused by him...Gotta love the low life's of this world

this is true about your ex stabbing them and them covering it. my gfs ex stabbed all her tires and they covered it no problem and no questions or hassle.

I like to think that defective people eventually get what's coming to them. This tire-slashing bastard hopefully will be no exception.
