Sliders, sliders, and more sliders...

Personally I like my c4 sliders as well but I don’t have any experience with any of the others. They’re well built and I personally think they’re one of the cleanest looking sliders on the market. I do think most are going to recommend what they have though so unless somebody posts that has had multiple brands on their runner and can tell you the pros and cons of them, you’ll just get responses of I like the type I have.

Bought OPOR's (Metaltech's) in 2014 for about $450.
Recently put some on my girls Tacoma and couldn't see paying these costs so I built them and only cost $145 for material and my time.

Shrockworks sliders share a mounting point with the gas tank, and typically have a lengthy lead time, both of which you indicate are disqualifiers for you. it is an excellent product, however, and worth both "inconveniences" imho.

Bought OPOR's (Metaltech's) in 2014 for about $450.

Recently put some on my girls Tacoma and couldn't see paying these costs so I built them and only cost $145 for material and my time.

That is a valuable set of skills you possess! Unfortunately, building my own is not an option...

YW, I have seen them on a Xterra and its more of a slider than a step and I have not used them.

I was torn between RR or Shrockworks, plus shipping was a a good chunk of change at the time on both, but Shrockworks had a GB goin on so I went with theirs. I have the non kickout and no top plate, my wife uses them as a step but it is still small enough to avoid if you don't want to use it.

Sliders and Rust

One thing people might want to consider when buying sliders is how easily they can be sanded/sandblasted and repainted or powder coated.

I live in Montana, prior to that Maine. Two states with 4-5 months of winter driving conditions and road salt. This requires sanding, prepping and repainting or powder coating your sliders (steel bumpers and skid plates) on a regular basis. I usually repaint mine every 3-5 years.

I have found sliders with a lot of small pockets, intricate cutout screw on step plates and sharp angles to be rust prone and very hard to de-rust and repaint.

I have the SSO sliders and I like them overall. They are a decent step and truly bolt on. The rear part has a kick out which helps the rear step in. The front part is not as wide so it not a huge step to use but it’s works.

You left out Cali Raised LED Sliders!

I’m getting ready to order sliders to have in time for spring/summer wheelin’ adventures and I have found myself in a state of analysis paralysis...

Criteria in order of importance: True bolt on/ease of installation - no drilling or dropping gas tanks, step functionality, durable, tread plate, cost, looks, and lead time.

This is not an overly comprehensive list: but here is what I have looked at so far - these are not in any order. Thoughts?

I did a very similar comparison like you have done, and after talked to a bunch of the companies I landed on Cali Raised for a few reasons:

1. They seem to fit closest to the body when you buy the angled sliders, so I wont be busting my ankle when I'm climbing out and I like the cleaner, tucked-in look

2. Excellent customer service so far. I haven't ordered yet, but have talked to them several times now and they are great.

3. Local to me, so I save shipping.

4. Best price for what you get IMO. They look BEEFY

2014-2020 Toyota 4Runner 20 Degree Bolt On Rock Sliders

I initially liked C4Fab a lot because its cool to me that you can get the "TRD Pro" script in the metal, but I don't like the transition at the rear tire. I like the flow of the other brands like Shrokworks and Cali Raised.

I’m with you on this. Now look at metaltech prices. It’s $1k for sliders. It’s ridiculous to see what companies are charging now. We can talk cost of goods going up all day long but steel is nowhere close to this price. We can thank all the “overlanders” who pay top dollar for everything for this huge price increase.

Cali Raised LED's are not even listed in that "Consolidated Slider thread", and after comparing every single brand, they were my favorite.

Nothing wrong with asking more questions, especially if options were left out.

I also found that some of the pricing was not correct in that thread. Still, I give props to the creator, because it took some time, is well done and has good info.
