Slimline Subwoofer

Yes I'm still very happy with it, and there is no issues with the seat clearance what so ever. It will block the floor vent if you dont raise it. Again still no clearance issues.

Turn-on wire question

I bought a Kenwood KSC-SW11 compact, powered sub. Where do I connect the "turn on" wire from th sub? The manual says to connect it to the power control wire on the head unit. Does anyone know which wire that is on the Entune with nav, non JBL?

The Kenwood manual also says that if there is no power control wire on the head unit, then connect the wire to the accessory wire. If this is the option I have to take, which wire do I tap into?

How's the Alpine holding up? Still stoked?
 
I went with a full size amp and sub (alpine for both).

I don't feel the small all-in-ones do a good enough job reinforcing the bottom, especially when listening to drum and bass or metal or something fast.

Unfortunately, there's no great 'built in' enclosure for the rear that gets it out of the way. Next step is to build one out of MDF so it puts it up above the wheel well.

Hey man, I'm looking at getting this one too. Can you take a photo of how it looks under the seat? I have the weathertech rear mats....does it come out far enough that it would bump into it? Or is it small enough to be tucked under the seat?
 
I've been using the JL CP108 W3 8" subwoofer paired with an Alpine MRV-500 2-channel amp and have been very impressed!

The sub enclosure is very small/thin and takes up almost no room but is very impressive for it's size. In my past car, I used to have (2) 12" subs, then went to (1) 12"... and now this 8" in the 4Runner and I have not been disappointed. I mounted the Amp under the passenger seat so I can remove the sub anytime i need to, or move it around.

I would HIGHLY recommend this setup (or something similar) over a micro-sub/powered-sub! I've also heard good things about the Alpine 8" SBR

Does that one fit under the seat too? I have been through it all too...2 10s, 2 12s, 4 10s, 4 8s, 1 10 ...but now I'm just looking for a little bit more bass and no wasting extra space as I usually have the truck fully loaded with kids stuff and primary music includes wheels on the bus go round and round.

The amp fits under the seat, but the Sub does NOT. It's still very small for a ported sub. Its about 19" long x 14" Tall x 6.5" wide.

I have mine tucked behind the wheel-well where the tie down loop is located. It takes up almost no room and can be easily lifted/moved around.

Can we get a pic of the sub in the back?

Been thinking of getting an under the seat one but coming from a ported 12 it may be a bit underwhelming

I have a 2016 TEP and the factory sound was abysmal. I like the head unit but the sound was just disappointing in volume and depth. So I installed a Kicker 300w amp and all new KS series speakers in all the doors and hatch. The sound is remarkably better. But the amp is under my passenger seat and now I want a little more bass.

So I was thinking of the hideaway but it's awfully tight under the driver's seat. So I found this inexpensive possible solution at Walmart:

Haven't installed it yet, but wondering if anyone else on here has thoughts about this solution? Easily removed and won't take up too much room behind the rear seat. Wondering if it would sound better than a slimline sub, for this price?
 
To those that have the Alpine or Kicker subs, I see a few pics of the sub mounted lengthwise (or parallel to the seat tracks), is that because neither sub fits horizontally (perpendicular to the seat tracks)?

I really would like to have it mounted so that nothing sticks out from underneath.

I have the same sub, I also came from a larger box and sub and have been impressed with this little one. Mine us just lying on the floor of the back, so I'm curious to see how you have yours tucked away.

Not possible with the Kicker as it's too long. Mine sticks out about 1/2" from the the back of the driver seat

Under driver seat and knob mounted on the flat section in between the ignition and the climate control dials. Well worth getting. Has dramatically enhanced the audio. Nice bass fill now
