slow Linksys Router

turn off QOS if your router has it, should speed up the router. make sure to do a malware scan with the connected laptop or computer, i use malwarebytes.
might be some suspicious virus?
my comcast speed is 240mb d/l and 12 upload
i use blast pro as my service and cost me 90 a month suppose to be 200mbps
also the modem matters, i use the motorola arris sb6183. might want look into another modem upgrade to use more channels.

OK, now this is strange. I did a Windows Reset (instead of restore) and it wiped out the router program, and every other program. My wife still has a problem with google, but not with U-tube (Music). I am still getting another router, but that means it is a diffident Google-Linksys program problem.

I'm pretty sure there is no such thing as a Google/Linksys router problem. Yes there could be a problem with your router but it isn't going to be specific to Google. If anything it is more likely the PC/mac you are using has something malicious that is giving you trouble with Google.

unless someone went in the router setting and list google as a blacklisted site. you can do that to any router, that will not let you go to that site. i would reboot the router to default and set it up all over. using a wired connection first. do some anti malware and virus scan.

if everyone else connected device works with google and just one dont, pretty sure that device may have malware or virus. malwarebytes is free to use. hopefully some other i t specialist can chime in.

You might want to set up a mesh for your WiFi.

If you got a good router for your firewall stuff you can then put the mesh behind that. Then you get full coverage and easy expansion.

ETA: I just noticed you said you get connected then drop connections. You haven't by any chance plugged in the wrong power supply by any chance have you?

Some of those things will run with a less than needed power supply. Then when the load picks up it will draw too much to no avail and drop a connection.

Just a wild thought but I've seen it happen.

I got that Router and after 30 minutes cold not get it set up with tech help. They are configuring one and will send it out soon. My wife's phone is the only one that needs wireless, will wait for her to pay for that. fun times.

I was gifted a Amazon TV Fire Stick so I needed that WiFi after all. I got a TP-Link set up as a WiFi Access Point. Goes thru 3 rooms, then the TV Stick, plays great. Wife is happy for her super phone.

I use an ASUS here too.... I think it has outperformed any Linksys that i ever owned previously.

I have Apple Airport Extremes in my home. 4 of them to be exact...hardwired at each access point via Ethernet. One new, originally bought by me in 2013...and the other 3 i bought used on eBay.

I have tried Netgear and Linksys...and they all suck. Drops internet requiring reboot. Sure, you can do a lot with it for the power user (which i am not) but unreliable...and seemingly gets worst with age (usually suck right after warranty expires). And their customer service suck.

Airport Extremes 6th gen, which Apple no longer makes (but can buy used on ebay), are great IMHO. They are secure (Apple still sends updates), fast enough (not as fast the newer routers), and damn reliable. Yes, they are NOT customizable for the power user...but they "just work." I cannot remember the last time i had to reboot it ever since i own the first one (2013).

Just throwing it out there.

My 2+ year old Linksys WRT1900ACS is still working like the day it was new. I never have to reboot it or have any connection issues. I have the 5gh setup for us and the 2.5gh with a separate PW for guests. I also have a Netgear Wifi range extender dual band for the back yard.

On the wired side I replaced everything with a 24 port TPlink gigabit switch and 2 - 8 port TPlink gigabit switches. Caught them at different times on Amazon lightning deals and they work great.

I have had the worst luck with modems. I'm on my 4th one in 18 years now. A Motorola SB6141. It has been working for a few years now.

Glad you guys are having fun with this thread. Tossed the AC1900 Linsys in the trash.
