Smashed Windshield

So my wife is driving down the highway yesterday in a windstorm and moderate snow. A semi truck she was following decided to lose a windshield wiper (complete with arm and all) and go surfing across the 4R hood, smash into the glass, and tear up the upper roof molding as well.

Good thing this is considered a "flying missile" according to my insurance agent, so it's claimed under comprehensive for $100.

I'll bet that scared the crap out of her, windshield breaks at highway speed are not fun.

That doesn't look good. I'm glad she is ok though.

I had a pretty decent sized rock come flying out of a dump truck going about 60. That isn't fun either, especially when it is right in front of your face.

Holy crap! I would have needed a new pair of undies. I jump/flinch when a small rock hits my windshield.

True, she was fortunate that it hit on the passenger side. However she did have a passenger that I believe might've wet herself.

Comp claim is $1,350 on my estimate. Geezy.

I was doing 65 or so down the freeway one day on the way to work and a pickup truck in front of me had one of those metal racks with tire rims on it. Well, evidently they were not secured or at least one of them was not. Yup, one flew off, bounced in front of me OVER my car. I nearly crapped my pants...if that thing had hit my windshield...oy! Don't even get me thinking about that...OUCHIE.

Blargh! Glad to hear she's okay...

I lost my left mirror in a similar accident last winter. :/ Thankfully the windshield can withstand shotgun shots! ^^

Yes glad she is okay. Of course the truck didn't stop I wonder if he even knew it came off. The $100 comp claim wasn't a big deal though. Got a nice new bugshield out of the deal- amazing how shiny that thing is before it gets hit with the sun for 5 years.
