Smog Problem

Hey all, I am new to the toyota family and now own a 1994 toyota 4runner, it is the 3.0L V6 model. I had bought the car without first having the previous owner smogging it (mistake one). The car runs great, but for some reason it did not pass the smog test, it says that it is running too high on NO(PPM) it was almost 200 over the limit. I do have an after market air intake on it. Any ideas what could be wrong with it? Please help.
