snapped antenna bracket?

Hi guys,

Somehow the weld that keeps the bracket for the antenna assembly attached in the wheel well snapped and the whole assembly is just dangling there. What would be the best way to attach it back (assuming I don't have a welder friend)? :/ Can I use sheet metal screw to attach it back to the body? Some type of glue? :) Thanks for suggestions.

I'm taking about this bracket above the letter 'A' in the picture that attaches the assembly to the frame.

You could try some jb weld. Personally I would get an internal antenna, run it inside your dash, and put a grommet in the fender hole.
 
decided to ditch the whole antenna.

read up a bit more and our 4runners have 'diversity antenna' (that alternates the signal between the fender antenna and antenna built into the passenger cargo side window - depending on signal strenght). If you have a 3rd party head unit it's possible that you have only one antenna plugged in anyway.

so the plan is:
- remove the fender antenna (probably not going to cut it out - just gently remove the cable in case I ever want to re-use it - hope it's not that complicated)
- purchase Scosche Mda-B adapter - that turns the smaller window antenna tip cable into normal size tip and plug it into the head unit
- use 'antenna cover' (part no. 55796-89102) to cover the hole in the fender.

Did you get it installed yet? I just got in my latest part order in and remembered about this cover. Curious if one needs to remove all the antenna "guts" such as the motor for this cover to work.
 
I've been toying with this idea and discovered this options

All in all The Tacoma mod looks the best AS well using the window antenna would be nice to. Another idea for the fender hole is a really nice spot to mod up for a cb antenna and just use the window antenna for the radio.

Sorry for the late reply - haven't been on the forum recently. I removed all the guts - as the metal bracket holding the stuff to the fender snapped off at the weld. But I'd say you have to remove the antenna assembly anyway.
 
The same thing has happened to mine. The bracket is still in perfect condition, but the spot weld just cleanly came apart.

I have a welder, and thought about throwing a plug weld/spot weld on it, but I don't really want to mess up the paint on the inside of the engine bay panel. Might just plug the hole and be done with it, but I actually really like the dual antennas and the up/down of the stock setup. It has just never worked since I purchased the car, and I don't know how soon I'm willing to prioritize that fix over all the other hassles of life.

Do you have a picture of it installed?
 
I had this happen to me as well. I just used some JB weld since I dont own a welder. It has held up for over a year now.

where exactly did yo find this TRD antenna......?
