I was pretty excited, picked up the truck and was a little worried initially, at 65 i was scared to drive it, the vibrations and terrible ride quality made me question my purchase. But after swapping the suspension out the next day and throwing on the tires, I was in love. The wheels came unbalanced and surprisingly very little vibration, after a static balance she has a small hum at 70-73 and dead quiet to 85. The wheels are steel and add a lot of weight. 39 bolts per wheel. Especially being 9" wide. I would like to regear to 488 at some point. I also wouldn't mind putting some all terrains on the stock wheels.

Ok having an issue with 4wd and 'awd' will not engage the t case or front diff. Vsv has vacuum and switches when 4wd button is pushed. But the t case shifts to neutral I can do this at a stand still or on the fly same happens and I have no drive. If I switch the vsv hoses the t case will still not engage. Now if I shift to 4HL I'm still in 2wd front diff does not engage. But I still have rwd. Same happens when I shift to 4Lo. Still 2wd and low range. What would cause this?
Little more info. Car not running key in on position f/r driveshafts are connected. But I still can roll the truck in park. Now I shift to 4hi f/r driveshafts locked and can not roll truck in park. But I start the truck and drive In loose terrain only rear wheels spin (4hi engaged)

Sound to me like a center diff lock issue, not really sure what would cause this as you seem to have the vacuum lines figured out. It could be the locking servo if its push-button. Wish I could help more, good luck!

Just curious, but I heard that brine is less harsh than the salt. I have always heard about Vermont being the worst with rust nightmares so I'm guessing whatever I heard was wrong.
OP, that thing is clean! Spray it with Fluidfilm if you plan to drive it in those Northeast winters.

I don't know if it's the Vermont climate combined with the brine usage or what, but it's a complete nightmare. Constantly chasing rust. It seems to have increased when they made the switch from salt to brine so I just assumed it was the culprit.

NJ started using brine when they ran out of salt last winter. I noticed that my gas tank skid plate had a fair bit more surface rust after that winter. I think the brine might very well be worse. Whatever it is they are using, I hate it. I hate living in the northeast with these harsh winters in general.

Mainly got it just as a precautionary if I needed extra clearance for the 9" wide wheels. But after the pinch weld mod I don't rub even at full lock. Still on the fence as to installing it she looks pretty good as of now and sits high enough for me.

Here's an update, fixed my limited's intermittent controls of the hvac still need to troubleshoot the door locks not locking. Pretty sure I know where to look just not sure yet how to fix it besides replace the interior fuse block.
I've ordered some led light bars, 1 20" and three 3" Cree led. Waiting on them to arrive.

Picked this up today off craigslist for 150
And this, it's for a land rover but I think I can use it as a base for a rear bumper.
The town is working on repaving the road so it's impossible to keep a white truck clean
Made a template for a cb radio and extra reverse light bracket. Now to make it out of steel.
Picked up 2 sets of super heavy duty sliders for a cargo drawer system. Looks like I'll be busy this winter fabricating.
Also added a red led in the map light surround, it's on when the truck is and is nice to have a little light inside the cab while driving. Makes it easy to see what I'm grabbing without loosing my night vision.
And lastly won this on eBay for 30 shipped, but all it's done is (I believe) confirm my front diff does engage but I don't think the front driveshaft is connecting to the front diff. Please help me out in my other thread, I really don't want to buy a front diff rebuild if I don't have to.

I did a circle, started by wanting to do a dual battery setup. Decided to run one large deep cycle battery. Tested dc voltage it was low but it was sitting for a while. Got it all installed and charged, truck fired like a champ! 4hrs later not the story, click, click, click. 10.3vdc and dropping. After doing some tests, she is done. So I put the old battery back in :/

I purchased 4 Avec light bars, 1-20" and 3-3" cubes. A little mixup in the shipping dept sent me a spot 20" instead of a combo but Mikes a good guy and is making it right.
I've mounted it stealthily behind the grill.
The brackets sit until my welds stop looking like ass.

hey, anyone have a recommendation for a trusted shop that can do/has done a Toyota body-mount chop for a fellow Mainer? i have some pretty good rubbing since mounting new wheels and 285/70 Mickey Thompsons and i think a BMC is gonna be required

Where are you in Maine? I just teach myself how to do everything. It's way better than relying on someone else to fix or mod the truck.
After fixing the 4wd issue I did some mild testing to find where the tires rub.
She stuffs them pretty good, I rub on the rear mudflaps so they will go soon
