Snow Plow?

i'm frustrated with the job my plow guy is doing. wanted to know if i can put a plow on the 2004 sports ed. 4runner.
i looked at boss, fischer, diamond... only western looked like one that had an smaller suv type plow... has anyone tried putting a plow on their 4runner?
any help is appreciated. thx!

Plowing is hard on a vehicle, good way to ruin it. Just buy a snowblower.

We have mounted some serious plows on 4x4 Tundras, but never on a 4R. Some have been in use for 3 winters now with no problems.

Fisher or Fischer was the brand of the plow if that helps.

My dad used to help our neighbourhood using lawn tractor with snow plow as many people are doing.
I am trying to convince my dad with ATV with snow plow as attached.

Intuitive Idea

I can't recall if I have ever seen any SUV's with a snow plow, there might be a reason to this.

Your idea is good, I would also have entertained the thought if there wheren't any other alternatives.

I like the ATV option.

If you are able to add a snow plow to the runner, please post pix

i've just gotten fed up with snow plow guys... i saw on websites of ford rangers with smaller plows... so i thought maybe the 4runner can handle it...
guess no one has really tried... i'm contemplating about getting a tundra or a sequoia and putting a plow on it...

I've seen smaller plows on older S10 pickups and S15 Jimmy's around here. Haven't seen any on Envoys or Colorados. Definitely not on 4Runners.

yeah s-10, s-15, ford rangers, jeep wranglers (i think), excursions, sequoia (haven't seen it but they sell the adapter), have never seen one on escalade or yukon... have seen on old suburbans...
i thought about getting an atv... but i don't know... will it weigh enough to move heavy snow? we had some heavy a$$ snow here in connecticut... weighed more like concrete...

but i've also come across that product page and when i select toyota, 4runner... it only gives me option for 1996 - 1998.
i have a 2004 sports ed. 4r.

actually how is backwards snow plowing? it says on exokomp's web link that it can be linked up to any 2" receiver... maybe i can put it on the 2" receiver on the back of the 2004 4r for reverse plowing... hmmmm... i'll look into this... i'm not sure but heck its better than nothing... thx!

Heavy ass snow is right. I left for work at 5:30am and got home at 6pm... I had to drive through a 2 1/2 foot plow pile in the driveway to get in the garage. The snowblower....Ugh, took an hour to clear my small driveway, it was so wet and heavy.. Usually takes 15 minutes.

Still, I wouldn't put a plow on the 4runner. Get an ATV with a plow instead if your driveway is too long/big for a snowblower.

haha toolman where the heck in ct got 2-1/2 ft of snow... now that's crazy snow... yeah we're contemplating getting a snow thrower... but atv maybe our only other option or get a truck... in anycase that's some serious snow.
koz... that'a an attachment that every long roadtrip needs hehe=)

I've talked to people who plow w/ atv's and from what I have heard they don't do a great job. Like someone else said, they aren't heavy enough, same w/ tractors. I think the snowblower attachment would work better, as it will throw the snow, eventually your not going to be able to push a bank of snow any further with an atv or lawn tractor. If I were going to buy a plow I would want something with a SFA, like a heavy duty Ford, truck or Excursion or a dodge, the SFA will put more steady weight on the ground and it's tougher. I just bought a snowblower this year after shoveling for the past 20, my dog is too old to wade through snow and I got real sick of shoveling my backyard last season. I grabbed a 2 stage Toro w/ and 8.5 hp Tecumseh and it works great. Just last week we had 8-10" of wet heavy snow and the Toro cut through it with ease, even at the end of the driveway. I would recomend this model, it was about $1100 delivered, I also liked the Husqvarna and it was 10.5 hp for $100 less but I've always had great luck w/ Toros.

All depends on your need.
If you are talking about doing a whole parking lot, ATV is not for you. The lawn tractor which my dad has been using are good for driveway, sidewalk, and drive entrance. It also depends on the load, meaning how many inches of snow you have. I don't think you would buy a snow plow attachment for full size truck or SUV just for doing couple of driveways.
If you want to do some commercial work, truck is way to go since you need to carry salt and spreader.
